Hmmmmm let me see She's always in my hair is the 5th best b-side by Prince.
1. How come u don't call me anymore. 2. I love u in me.3 Erotic City 4. Love or Money 5. She's always in my hair. So in my opinion that's a great b-side by Prince.

How can you NOT include 17 Days on that list? Gimme a break!!!!

Okay, for all you young 'uns, some of whom weren't even born when this came out! (Now I feel old... sheesh)

'She's Always In My Hair' is available on 'The Hits/The B-Sides" 3cd set.
It was originaly the b-side to 'Raspberry Beret' (or 'Paisley Park' if you live in Europe). If you want the 12" version it was only available on the US 12" of 'Raspberry Beret'.

Question2002

She Always In My Hair is a beautiful song
just the string arrangements alone r beautiful
playing in the background singing there hearts out
and mix with guitar nicely arranged. He's playing
that guitar, singing from the heart.

One of my favorites *****

I LOVE THIS SONG!!!! It's one of my favs and will always be. I sent this to an old boyfriend on a compliation tape one time. (It didn't last) Maybe I was a little crazy at the time but I'll never forget him or this song.

Well ! that's a surprise
Not ONE single person even slightly dislikes this song...
I think that really says something...
Either you are ALL crazy or it really IS a GREAT song !
Now I know all of us are a bit crazy - Isn't that why we're here ?? But Ok I mean I never said it was a bad song, I just don't think that is so great as everyone says.....

but with this overwhelming evidence I think I need to make that 90 minute tape with JUST this song to see if I can 'get' it.....

hehe

Anyway let me compliment myself on a great thread

In my humble opinion this is one of the BEST songs Prince ever penned -- a true undiscovered gem.

This song is one of the phatest Prince jams ever recorded. I love the instrumentation of the entire song in the extended version, with it's hypnotic beats and mixtures of instruments, especially the unpredictable basslines on the extended version. There is a live version of it recorded with the NPG Band in '95 somewhere and the song comes off strongly majestic, which gives the song a powerful, authentic funk feeling that only his Purple Badness has originated. Prince was and always will be one of music's prolific and artistic geniuses. He is a musical icon!!!

Let me add one more vote here for the side of "one of the best Prince songs ever", SAIMH. The drums through the fx, the lyrics, the tempo... fucking incredible. The first time I heard this live I almost wet myself...

never knew it was almost part of purple rain. that would have changed everything for me; 'cause as a B-side, it seems eerily personal (especially in reference to the little "sex shooter" refrain)... gave me chills the first time i heard it.

IT'S ONE OF PRINCE'S VERY BEST. PERIOD.

She's Always in My Hair

Whenever I feel like givin' up
Whenever my sunshine turns 2 rain
Whenever my hopes and dreams
Are aimed in the wrong direction
She's always there
Tellin' me how much she cares
She's always in my hair

She's always in my hair
My hair

Whenever I feel like not 2 great at all
Whenever I'm all alone
And even if I hit the wrong notes
She's always in my boat
She's always there
Tellin' me how much she cares
She's always in my hair

She's always in my hair
My hair

Maybe I'll marry her (Maybe I'll marry her)
Maybe I won't (Maybe I won't)
Maybe I will not (Maybe I will not)
Lemme tell ya (Even if I was a gigolo)
If I was a gigolo all my life (All my life)
She'd still be there (She'd still be there)
Tellin' me just how much she really cares (She cares)
She's always in my hair

She's always in my hair
My hair

Listen
Whenever I feel like givin' up
Whenever my sunshine turns 2 rain
Whenever my hopes and dreams
Are aimed in the wrong direction
She's always there
Tellin' me just how much she cares
(Tellin' me how much she cares)
Tellin' me...she's always in my hair (Always in my hair)

She's always in my hair
My hair

She's always in my hair

...and D'Angelo's version rocks, too!

Brother915

I remember in 1985 before Around The Wrold In A Day came out. It was rumored that this song was going to be a single release. It certainly could have been a top 10 hit. Even though it would hard to see how it would have fitted in as part of the theme/concept of "Around The World In A Day", it certainly deserved to be on an album. Nice bass guitar riff on the track!!!

How can you not like this song? As soon as I heard it was like "wow" what a great song - I love it. But then there are Prince songs that other people love and I really cant; stand them - like "Adore" ugh no! I always skip that song too sickly sweet for me but then that is my opinion cool

'She's always in my hair", nice catchy song that sounds like something the Beatles would have sung. A great "Saturday" song, reminds me of 2 many of my ex-girlfriends though.

I just stumbled across this thread & HAD to add my reply
unfortunately I couldnt "quote" everybody - but if I could, just about, I would.

This is one of THEE BEST songs - ever! period! & YES I love D'Angelo's version also! I have seen Prince perform it live 3 times AND I've seen D'Angelo do it twice - it's just awesome!

p.s. - I've always heard he's singing about Sheila E. !
