Favorite Prince Video and/or most Artistic in YOUR opinion

So what is everyone's opinion to Prince's best and/or most artistic video. I am setting here on Launch watching some just killing time and it popped up the question in my mind.
Artistic wise I like 7 and Holy river. Fave video is a more difficult 1, Somebody's somebody is on the top of the list smile

Kiss.

During a period of time where MJ was aiming for pyrotechnics and razzle dazzle, Prince's sound and video technique was stripped down (not to mention his clothing) in ways that Christina Aguelera could not even begin to understand by way of sexiness.

Bravo. It was an awesome statement that MJ tried to duplicate with "In the Closet" years later, but failed.

Kiss will always be a classic video, and unlike Thriller, he didn't need sychronized zombies to do it.

Party Man is my favorite.

It was fun seeing Prince jamming like he was and playing pranks on everyone.

Sexuality has to be my second. "Too Sexy".

Third, would have to be Little Red Corvette. Very slick.

I Wish U Heaven. It's one of his few videos which doesn't look like it was filmed in his garage.

My favorite is "1999". Sure, it's on a sound stage but it still has a futuristic look. The blinds, the neon heart, the smoke, and the band. I especially love the whole homoerotic thing going on between Lisa and Jill.....truly ahead of it's time for television.

what are you people daft? Musicology seems to be the slickest video he's ever done. It looks professional and just dandy.

But Partyman definitely was a fun one.

"7" really was the end of an era, yeah I know the home video "3 chains of gold" was stupid, but after those doors closed at the end of that video, the original NPG were no more.....he changed his name and those early 90's gangster days were over.....love the dancing in the video too....great setting, directed well, love it!

"Cream"- my fav.....the whole 12 minute version....love it all..great atmosphere..takes me back to when I first saw vid in US with my mates...choreography was great in vid too.....the whole band did their part well....everyone in the whole band was involved and i love that! Even sonny t does a little dance at the end when they boogie off.....D and P looked fine too.....Mayte was a part of the band then wasn't she? I guess not oficially till the symbol album!

"The max"- thats cool, just the members of the NPG goofing around spliced with clips of tony M skating backwards with a dressing gown on!

between the Batman and ending with the symbol album....Prince stepped up his game with his videos..then came "Most beutifull girl in the world" vid.....yuck!

lol

I love the full 'Cream' promo, but agree with Soulsis - I like 'Alphabet St' too. It looks like it was filmed in one of those tacky LA 'walk in and film a video' booths that used 2 be all the rage (allegedly). Just totally kitsch & quirky, but it works. It does it 4 me anyway!

'Empty Room' is beautiful too - full of longing, and a great performance with the black and gold symbol guitar...

Empty Room Video - MPLS/Los Angeles (1995)

But when it comes down 2 it, the one that ALWAYS has the edge 4 me is the 'America' video!

It's just so infectious - and Prince is having BIG fun - not 2 mention the band are haaawt y'all...

Diamonds and Pearls
1999 (I love the whole thing Jill and Lisa have goin on)
Kiss (simple but amazing)
The One (Beautiful song and Beautiful video)
Automatic (P in that hat, and Jill make the video for me!)
Face Down (Hilarious)
Little Red Corvette (Just great)
Raspberry Beret (psychodelic!!)
Alphabet St. (P's version of sesame st.)
When Doves Cry ..... no words needed!
Did you order a pizza ma'am? Prince- UTCM

I am not a big fan of his videos as a whole. But Alphabet St is one of my favorites...very colorful and a lot of fun.

YES the AMERICA video! I have only seen one and it's a concert one (They always play it at the Prince Nights in Chicago at Berlin) It's live and goes on and on and on! Is this the video...er the only video?

2 Other favorites would be Bat Dance and Automatic.

Your Favorite Video and most artistic

I would say the full version of When Doves Cry. Because of how it created such a mystic about Purple Rain - it showed his kick XASS dancing, and the chrograph step buy the whole band.

Very haunting a dream within a Dream.

Second Choice - 1999 cool lighting

Third - Kiss & Somebody's Somebody's

Most Artistic - Diamonds & Pearls (I didnt like this song until I saw the video)

The worst - The One (directed by Mayte - I loved the song until I saw this piece of crap video - I didnt even know she had directed it - GOD AWFUL - cluttered choppy just BAD!!!)

When Doves Cry 2000 has spoken...

dig if u will the picture
of u and I engaged in a kiss...
