Let's face it, not everything Prince has done was great, but does he understand this?

We come to this website each day and talk about how great the man's work was, but at the same time we rip on him about how some of the things he's done have not been so great. I personally think that maybe he does understand that some of the things he has done just didn't cut, but I don't think he has any regrets about it. I mean, he's only human and somewhere along the way with his music, things won't be so perfect.

I mean, a lot of people think his 90's stuff sucked. I don't think it sucks (although a lot of it isn't as great as his 80's work), but I still respect it. I mean, I see it as him trying to grow as an artist. And the only way to grow as an artist is to maybe make some mistakes along the way.

And maybe Prince has accepted this fact, I don't know. But I don't think he gets too hung up about it. I mean, he just wants to play music. If he falls, he'll get back up again. Besides, if one of his albums suck then that's just an outside opinion. If he's happy with it, then other people's opinions shouldn't really matter.

What do you think?

I think your absolutely right! nod

Although he may not publicly come out and say "I know some of my music sucked at one point in my life." Im pretty sure he realized that when people weren't receiving the music as they wouldve during the 80's.
I dont expect Prince to be perfect although he does seem like a aperfectionist. He and I have different tastes so I may not feel all of his music but I do feel a good majority of it.
I happen to really enjoy his 90's music myself. GOLD being one of my favorite albums as well as prince. The music was more R&B-ish and not as trance dance out it was during the 80's. I thought Prince was really being bold trying to color into a 90's artist after being on top on the game during the 80's which was so completely different from the 90's. How many 80's artist can we really see or hear about nowadays besides the 2 obvious? (MADONNA and MJ).
He definetely had some serious growing pains throughout the 90's but he still managed to keep that unbeliveable talent he has and not smother it through drugs and alcohol as so many other tragic artist we loved have done.
Yes, Prince has accepted this fact, at least he seems happy enough now that it looks that way.
He's a Gemini, they dont stay in a rut for too long so if he does fall down, he wont even really have time to think about it because he will be involved in something else before we, the fans, can catch our breath.

Thats why I love him! music guitar woot! headbang

Prince thinks every note he produces is straight out of gods arse. Thats why we get songs like jughead.

He will never learn. Lucky for us, the power of digital makes it a lot easier to edit! biggrin
