She paid for the concert ticket and would have gone to the concert with or without the give-away cd. At the end of the day nobody can rationally say that she would have purchased 13 cd's if given the choice. The rule has already been changed. People will have an option in the future. What do you want, a reversal?

One, the retail album. I gave my concert CD to a co-worker's son who is heavy into Prince. He loved it. Andy is a four letter word.

Just a quick fact, according to someone related to soundscan, they are NOT counting Member tickets, Only normal tickets sold. This could be the 450,000 not counted CDS that Prince was eluding too.

I guess I want people to acknowledge that Musicology is a quasi hit at best. I think that Musicology is a quasi hit to real Prince aficionados - but IMHO - I think that this is a CD that the "mainstream" can enjoy. I like that fact that Prince is pushing the industry to rethink things. I understand that you may not have a need for 13 CD – but not all people go to 13 concerts – in fact – most people will go to one – maybe two, and they may appreciate that they now have a copy of his new CD. As far as your 13 – what will happen to them? You might give a few away – or bring them to a resale shop – and someone will get benefit from it – so it will get into the hands of a listener. So then shouldn’t it really be counted? I guess I can understand your point – but if people went to the concert they must have liked Prince to some extent to begin with – so for them to get a CD and have it counted is not wrong. But I also think I am hearing from you – that a CD that is quasi has no right to be fueled by concert sales – it doesn’t tell the real worth of a CD – but do SoundScan and BillBoard really tell the worth of a CD? No just what the “public” felt was good. Many of us on this board – like some of what the “public” does – but we also recognize that some of Prince’s better work is not what the “public” likes – and that is true with many artist not just Prince. So the challenge to the industry to rethink what it is saying with its charts is the start of something bigger, glad Prince is a part of rewriting music history again. Maybe if you took off that chastity belt you could breath a little mo betta.

I only have 2 one retail and one concert!!
i bought my retail for 9.99 if there is option on concerts how much will be charge for a bare CD maybe 5? after all there is no marketing cost and its bare i am sure those ppl who r goin to 13 shows dont mind paying 5$ extra so it might still be high in the charts. Its the only CD after PR to stay so long in top 10 what prince will do next is release a CD only for sale only at concerts? Then they will accuse him of boltering his concerts

Sell or give-a-way the fact that Prince fan has the cd is far greater then a cd that sell in a retail. Because a cd is selling in a retail does not mean that people are necessarliy buying the record.in facted most records are purchase by retailers then consumers. So if 2 million people actually have the record then 2 million people own the record.

I suppose you could say three -- the CD-R I burnt initally and the 2-CD Hong Kong bootleg version. Still have not made an official purchase of this album.
