A couple of his Paisley shows were all out rock. He couldn't turn his guitar up loud enough on one of 'em. I went home VERY happy that night...

That's the thing. He used to do some aftershows and Paisley shows like that, but not many people got to attend. A major tour would would be the best. Guarantee sell-outs.

Nope! It will never happen! P has never done a total anything type of show. His shows are diverse as he is. He's 2 moody, 2 spontaneous an artist. From his 1st tour up until the pop up Parade gigs in 86 b4 UTCM came out. P never had live horns on stage. So his 1st 4tours including Purple Rain he did'nt use horns. I have no problem with him using live horns they complete the band and make some songs sound different&fresh!

Nothing fresh about what he's been doing these past few years. And he actually did start using horns starting in '85. Not a lot, but if you look at the Purple Rain tour, you'll see a horns portion.

AAAAAHHH!!! eek

Fresher than getting rid of the horns and returning to the eighties. I LOVE the idea of an all rock concert, but I don't get why you think horns, on his current tour, for example, wreck anything. They make for a really fun show. And some of his songs sounded very "fresh" on the Musicology tour. Part of the reason you didn't like Let's Go Crazy is cuz you barely recognized it.

An all-rock show would be very interesting. For too long,Prince hasn't gotten enough credit for his guitar-playing the way other rockers have.An all-rock show would change that.

It's not cuz I barely recognized it, it's cuz he butchered it. If you've been looking around this forum for the past few months, you'd notice a hell of a lot of people have issues with the amount of horns he puts in his songs. If you likie horns, then knock yourself out. But most people don't like that shit.

Not at all. I think it's cool when he performs the songs in different versions. But there's a difference between doing it well and butchering it. Like in the Purple Rain tour when he performed Irresistable Bitch. That version was wayyyyy better than the original. Then on the flip side, he destroyed Let's Go Crazy with all the damn horns. So it depends.

Of course you have to start a negative spin on my thread. disbelief

But if you took a poll by the people who attended this last tour, you'd find that most don't care for the horns and would rather hear more guitar.

I'm all for Prince doing an entire rock show. But I realize that he's not solely a rock artist so I don't even give in to the expectation. You don't like horns? Well, I'm sorry. But you should take a poll before you start spouting off with generalizations about what everybody likes and what they don't.

I actually saw people plugging their ears during the guitar solos, but the place did have terrible sound.

They should have used earplugs like I do at all concerts. There's nothing fun about tinnitus.

You encouraged it. I think it's common sense that I'm into Prince's older material. I didn't think I had to be a fan of his current crap to be here.

exsist anymore. You want him to be some sort of edgy alt rock thing,Prince is
a 46 year old married man who's way more into musicianship than being
edgy, shit he hasn't been that way since 87' I guess he is just not that guy
anymore for better of worse, whatever your taste,I'm just glad he is still here
doing it,he doesn't have anything left to prove to me,fuck he can come out
and do a kazoo version of "Pass The Peas" and I'd check it out

I WOULD BE PISSED OFF IF HE DID AN ALL-ROCK SHOW mad
HE DOES ENOUGH ON HIS ALBUMS WHICH I USUALLY SKIP THRU!
HE NEEDS TO PUT OUT AN ALL R&B/FUNK ALBUM. DON'T GET IT TWISTED I LOVE PRINCE PLAYING THE GUITAR AND HE NEEDS TO DO MORE SOLO'S IN CONCERT, BUT AN ALL-ROCK NOT! PRINCE HAS NOT DONE A R&B SINCE DIRTY MIND (I LOVE THE SHIT OUT OF SISTER & WHEN YOU WERE MINE, BUT THAT IS NOT A R&B) HE NEEDS TO PUT SOME FLAVA BACK INTO HIS MUSIC. AND YES KILL THE HORN SOLO'S ON HIS SONGS!
I'M NOT SHOUTING, JEEZ!

Actually EvilWhiteMale doesn't admit that R&B and funk are a permanent staple in Prince's music. Rather than express his disdain for R&B music he'd rather shit on Prince for using horns and making so-called "crap" music. In the meantime he will praise the classic "good ol' boy" guitar-heavy music and new wave stuff and continue to pretend that R&B Prince doesn't exist.

There's a not so hidden message behind that username.

That's fuckin stupid.

This is a thread about wanting Prince to try something new like an all rock show. Seems to me a lot of people would like that. Quit playing the baiting game.

You don't like Rnb music. Just admit it!!!!. The foundation of Prince's music is RnB and he started using horns 1986. You have had a lot of time to get use to this.
