Would Emancipation for £3.99 be a good gift for someone rediscovering Prince? or...

...would just listening to the opener 'Jam of the Year' make them run away again?

I dunno. Does it sound any better for £3.99?

Sure. If they were a fan and don't have the set...there is plenty to listen to and enjoy. It's not my favorite...but it's an easy listen...including the opening track.

Anxiety

if someone gave me emancipation for free and i was starting to get into prince's stuff, i'd enjoy it - i remember when i first bought it and dug through the liner notes book and thrilled to the fact that i had 3 discs of prince to slog through...of course, the booklet is very cheesy and i actually only like about 1.5 of the three discs, but i'll always remember that opening it up for the first time was a rush. nod

The gift of "Emancipation" is the fastest way to have them re-bury a Prince appreciation. For that money, you could buy your friend a burrito. Life giving sustenance, instead of soul-crushing shlock.
