Prince and the band

Just got back from the Joe L concert.
Let me just say that prince has a tight band, that's tight... T-I-T-E as prince spelled it tonight. LOL.
I loved the way the show is set, that you get a chance to really experience the awesome talent that the band members have. John Blackwell, he is like a monster on the drums.. if I was a drum on his drum set, I would think "there is nowhere to hide" because he hit everything, I mean he beat the hell out of it!
Candy, Rhonda, Maceo, and the keyboardist (what can of fam am I????) were all excellent. Each one of them could be a soloist. They have the talent, no doubt. It was surprising that Prince who is accomplished on all instrument picked people who maybe even more skillful at their respective instruments. that takes confidence to let someone else take the spotlight from you and he did it willing and with such class and admiration for his band.

I think I love him. redface

Renato Neto, I could listen to him for a whole show alone, he is that good! He had several spotlight moments, he played a beautiful piano version of Sometimes it snows in April during a wardrobe change that was, I can't find the words to say, just beautiful, hauntingly beautiful... made me realized just how beautiful a song Prince wrote. (with David Coleman, right?)
And speaking of that, Something in the water sung slow and Acoustic... you can really feel pain in the lyrics that I never heard before.

I am just blown away.

Yes, they are awesome.

John Blackwell is unbelievable on them drums. It seemed like he had more solo time last night...deservingly so. He had the loudest response. Detroit showed him tremendously love. He is a super talent. woot!

nod John's drumming is one of the best parts of the show! The man's arms are just a blur sometimes, he's goin' so fast!! headbang

ReRe

Sadly I still have to wait another 4 weeks for my show. Although I still cannot wait to see him. I am dying to see rhonda whale her bass all over that stage! This will be my first concert and if I get lucky enough maybe it won't be my only. But right now this is my one and only chance to see them and I wouldn't pass it up for anything.
