Does he treat his band better now than back in the day?

Reading the vault...and I keep thinking what a jerk Prince must have been to work for. Dealing with his ego, getting paid little compared to how much he was making...and being very strict and rigid in his work ethic. COnsidering how labels and record companies are, you'd think he'd be a little more easy on the folks who were helping him out with his career...though I think he thought it was the other way around. It's never really explained why Prince felt as though he should treat his band mates like he did...and I doubt you could actually call him on it today.

Does anyone know if he treats his new band any better these days? Has he gotten better at paying those who do the work?

he was very shallow back then, and he did not realize he was being had himself - he thought he was playin' others but he got played himself

SO it sounds like he has admitted this and changed his ways. Probably learned his lesson when it all bit him on the butt during the end of the WB years.

I don't have any deep insight to offer. But I will say this much. A leopard never changes his spots. With his ego I'm sure he can still be difficult to work with.

I agree--maybe he goes to church and all that stuff now--but those religious references have always been in his music. I think he found yet another way to promote himself--and it's working--everyone is all agog about how he won't sing nasty shit anymore, his supposed comeback, etc.--but has he REALLY changed? no--he's used to getting his way and that's what he's going now. And I love him and think he's a sexy musical genius--but would I want to work for him or be up under him at night? HELL NO! because people DO NOT CHANGE fundamentally. they just package themselves differently.
