The REAL reason NPGMC has changed...

Mark my words, the reason that Prince has changed the way he is releasing tracks (from over the internet to shipping CDs) is because he wants to start shipping CDs that are COPY PROTECTED so that people can't just ship around the files. Don't be shocked if you can't play them in your computer...

As the man said himself, Music should be free"... not if the paranoid Prince has anything to do with it. Let's hope that he doesn't try to control what we play it on in our own houses. Once we pay for them, we should be able to do whatever we want with them, whether it is playing the CD in our computer or using it as a coaster! lol.

Personally, I am looking forward to getting them on a disk. They'll sound better and not have any digital skips in them. I just hope that he continues the monthly show, or at least throws us something to replace that.

Now go on in there and put on that new wig I bought you.

They can copy protect all the music they want. If it can be played...it can be recorded by a computer.

Actually, I think they started out profitable, but the bandwith costs put the club in debt. Thats why were getting less content for the same price. to recoup from last years losses. I don't think P wanted to just end the club....so this is the comprimise.

but if you created a work of art would you want other people to make money off of it and you don't. it's like i am publishing a book right now, and i wouldn't want someone to scan it onto the internet and give it away for free, after everyone involved with the book has worked so hard on it, and invested so much money....i have a friend that was in a famous band...and he was saying that if someone buys a cd and makes copies of it for their friends it's wrong because it takes money away from the artist, i mean if you worked so hard on a cd, would you want everyone making copies and downloading it for free, when it's your job, it's what you support your family on? i think if some of these people that did this were an artist themselves they would feel differently. i used to make copies of cd's in the past for friends, but now that i see the effect it has on artist's, i no longer do it. and i'm not just talking about rich artist's, but the ones trying to make it along.

peace

If you want to copy a copy blocked cd just hook your cd player up to a data connection to your computer and you can record it on to your hard drive. This is a pain but will work. I also know a guy who cracked the Fats and Furiouys sndtrk that was protected by resetting the start time to 0:00 with some cd ripping software. I guess it's pretty easy to break the code on these things. It will start happening alot but you can return any cd's that don't play in your computer, it's your right.

Geez, let's hope they won't do that. About 90% of the time I play music it is at my computer.

On the other hand, it IS a clever way of stopping people from booting those songs.

However, there allready is a device that makes it possible 2 copy even those 'protected' cd's.

So before long we'll all b able 2 copy as we please again
