I believe what he is trying 2 say is that the feeling we get from a live concert with a real drum player, real guitarists and real keyboardists can't be replaced by drum machines and other computer generated instruments. 2 let music b replaced by this is taking away our outlets 4 our emotions. Think about the difference between the song u hear on the radio versus the same song when u hear it live. Now think if it was all computer generated, where's the heart in it? Computers don't have hearts, only megaHertz! no pun intended.

anyway, i think i get what he says

Thank you, I wish they all did smile

I could try and tell you but it's so quick and I barely recognize myself. If you watch the special look for a tall guy behind the band. I'm wearing a red pullover that says Canada on it. Best time to see me though is probably when Prince enters because I was right at the entrace so I should be on camera at that time.

Im all for live music and Prince is totally amazing...but he cant keep going around knocking those peopel who make electronic based music. That includes Hip Hop, Dance etc etc and to say that they arent as good as him is just arrogant.

The live scene and the electronic scene are different...both have their masters, both have their plus side and both have their minus.

He he wants to attack an area it shoudl be teh liek of Britney who dont perform live cuz tehy cant....or maybe thats what he IS saying

- I think what he tried to say is....that back in the day (60s, 70s, even 80s) people who were on the Top 40 actually knew how to play. Like them or not, they were musicians! (Chic, Earth Wind and Fire, Kool and the gang, Sly, James Brown etc). Today´s music scene has some talented artists, but most aren´t.

Anxiety

I don't think Prince is harshing on electronica musicians as much as he's criticizing acts who rely too much on prerecorded/prefabricated sounds...and anyway, given the arrangement of When Doves Cry on the Musicology Tour, the man doesn't have that much room to talk. wink

Folks, those shows were super sick... PRINCE is ridiculous!!!

Hey Jay, you got you few minutes of fame too huh. I was on BT & City Pulse. (I'm the girl you spoke to a few times in the purple Prince t-shirt.)

Y'all it was wonderful to see Prince was so relaxed and funny. As usual (and as he should) he spoke his controversial mind. I'm anxious to see what they edit. And of course his performance was T-I-T-E - Prince and the Band. Freaking fabulous.

Anyone know if there was a Toronto aftershow?

This may be slightly off topic, but. . . .
I once heard Prince say that he enjoyed Outkast (they DID induct him into tho RRHF). So do I, but I saw Andre on a show the other day. .I don't remember which one. . but he only had his voice track live. Everything else was EXACTLY like the album. Now I do have much respect for Outkast, but I have to wonder what that was all about. I thought that they too were all about REAL musicianship.

Anyway. .thank for the clip.. it's got me all X-cited for my 2 shows. The 22nd and 24th in Philly.

THREE WEEKS BABY!!!! biggrin

I think Prince's issue is with the black kids of America who are losing the art of creating real music. It's kinda like how old Chinese martial arts masters are so disappointed in the new generation of Chinese kids who have no desire to learn Chinese martial arts to a higher level. Prince is disappointed to see the new generation of black youth who are more eager to learn how to DJ than to play a real instrument. I think that's what he's getting at.

Yeah. We are being dumbed down in every corner of western society. How amazing are humans ? How dumb are we becoming?
