synthesizers on DMSR... I'm not a musician (obviously) but the tone of the synthesizer being used in DMSR on this tour is bugging the hell outta me It kinda ruins one of my favorite songs!! I just sounds so... tin can... so tinny... so "14 year old on a Casio"
Am I alone here? Is it just me & my ears??

I TOTALLY agree Calhoun! When he played it here in Sydney last October, I was pissed to hear that shitty Renato Nerdo sound. He also ruined Let's Work with it, which is a HUGE no no for me!

Glad I'm not alone here I don't blame Renato though, I don't know who to blame. P is such a perfectionist - I'm surprised it's not irritating to him too He'd surely change it if he didn't like it

I think Renato is playing the line on a Nord Synth, a funky as hell keyboard, but doesn't have the low range depth of an OB1. However, Dr Fink has said that Prince on record use to layer the syth parts (up to 7 layers) back then using those phat synths. So if Renato is playing the same lines, on a different keyboard as a single layer, then yeah, it may sound a bit "tinny".
I think Renato does an alright job of it Xperience the Peach & Black Podcast: http://peachandblack.podbean.com/

The Nord should be more than capable of providing at least a decent substitute for any Oberheim / Moog sound. However, they're just prolly trying to look for something "updated". And that never really works...

It can not be as tinny and irritating as the synth patches used on the Emancipation cd!
