I just saw it again on VH-1 tonight. As the years go by I've noticed a few things about the movie:

1. The music and stage performances are still amazing, and really ahead of their time back in '84.

2. Prince acts like such an asshole! If I was Appolonia, I would have dumped the little pouting man for Morris any DAY! Prince treats her like shit and pouts the whole movie, the only time he comes alive is when he's onstage, not when he's with her. And she bought him the guitar, what did he give her? Tricks her into skinny dipping by herself and gives her his big old earing...

3. The acting sucked but damn the music is done so well that I still don't care.

4. Remember the good old days of funk bands like the Time? Bring back live funk music..

5. This album is my Sgt Pepper's- I have listened to some of the PR songs at least once every couple of months for 20 years. It's still is one of the most adventurous, cohesive, unbelievable 9 songs ever put to wax.

I'll never forget going to the theatre in Boston and cracking up as all the girls were yelling at the screen out loud. It was like a concert every time. I think it could be a midnight cult movie someday like "Rocky Horror" People would dress 80's and f'n go nuts!

well.... Ofcourse the GIRLS were yelling for him! I was 2 when I first saw it on DVD!

.....ahhhhh the summer of '84.....the purple 45 of purple rain.....lol i still have both that and my purple rain album.....lawwwwwd that was 20 yrs ago? smh
