I DJ every Friday night I rip out at least 1-3 old skool Prince songs like DMSR, Kiss, Sign O, Cream, etc. These use to be party starters, now they other than Kiss, they are barely recognized.. sad but true. I sometimes get the feeling that the 20 something masses don't think Prince is as cool as we hardcore fans view him.

It's depresing but I think Outkast and Alica Keys are the "cool" artists now, and maybe Prince's age is holding him back.. I'm not sure what he can do to get the young kids to love him like we did..

You should rock some funkier stuff like Erotic City or Housequake.

He has so many, maybe they're tired of hearing the others.

You've certainly changed your tune. The clean, non-rowdy image is the very thing you were rallying against a couple of months back.

Well DSMR sounds very dated as does Sign of the Times...even though they are great songs

When I go to clubs and are sorrounded by 20 somethings...the DJ here in DC still will rock old school Prince and the place goes crazy

I think your choosing the worng songs

Kiss is great of course
But Doves Cry & Erotic City are timeless
You also can't go wrong with I Wanna Be UR LuvR
Dance... Let me see you dance

man... i was just driving back from la with m yscousins. we were listening to my an rnb/pop mix i made, went through boyz ii men, genuwine, maxwell, 98 degrees, kci and jojo... etc... then international lover came on.

!! th3ey told me the distorted electronics hurt their ears... "his voice is annoy9ing"... "i dont understand his style" , "change the track". and they changed it...

i think these days, production, and image is paramount, and especially repitition. im 19 but, most of my peers only like songs that they r familiar with (basically heard over and over again on teh radio). they arent open, and if they dont know it, then it isnt cool. it's really sad.

but part of it is probably p's fault... all the changes he made taht totally threw everybody off. now when u say his name or mention his music, people only talk about eccentric stories... not the music.
