So when will they able available on P2P for those of us with no possible means of obtaining them otherwise?

They wont.
It's one of the label's wishes not to spread them p2p.

So what? They'll be on. somebody will make sure.

Lets put things in perspective.

For a start. Let call a spade a spade. Someone didn't set them "Free", they
simply handled stolen goods.

I'm not moralising here, I have plenty of boots and have been involved in
trading and purchasing since 85. I welcome any new tracks.

But I am well aware of most of the "players" in the game, and sadly it is often
treated like a boys club.

I see the same names and faces, in the same circles, keeping certain things to
themselves, fixing queues at concerts, taping the shows and generally trying to
act like Mr Big in the Prince "underworld". Most of us who collect know the
network.

The person who "Frees" these tracks want to ensure that they keep trading
potential?

Rubbish.

Someone holding any unreleased material now will be lucky to find another trader
with something they haven't already got. Besides, if they both put them up of
the hub for instance, it would be easier for both of them.

It's all about money and/or brag factor. "The labels" wish for them not to
be released on P2Ps? "Label" says it all.

And if many people should respect this wish, to increase the trade value, why
are you all participating in trees?

Just look at the "Trees". It's like a military operation for no reason what so
ever. If they were stuck up on a P2P, everyone could just pluck them off.
Instead we play games as if they are a hidden treasure, and we are passing on the gold.

I can understand someone not wanting to put stuff up on some of the P2P
networks, but why not simply take the "bit tornado" approach and "tree" them in
seconds?

We all know they end up on a bootleg eventually, and then fans have to pay for
it. Why don't we save everyone money and time and float them freely?

How can they not be exclusive, if you have to join the right circle to get them?

If all like childish card swapping, just so people can have it first, or look
like the giver of something great!

The people in these circles don't mind seeing Prince ripped off, but not
themselves. Hypocrics rule.

It all comes out eventually, so why play all these games?

A bit sad really.

There's nothing sad about it - in fact, unreleased tracks are exciting news! I think you're taking it too seriously - the unreleased outtakes are being widely traded on "another site" and a trading tree is in the making so that even those with nothing to trade can participate - there's no special circle or boy's club. Believe it or not - some find it FUN to trade! Eventually the outtakes will be posted - as most things are - on a shared site. Relax - it's all good!

I never said there was anything sad about new tracks. We all love it. But what is sad is the "ownership" and trade factor that comes with it.

Don't worry, I am relaxed, I already have them. But why the "Charade" (no pun intended). If its all good fun, why not wack them up on a P2P? Why a trading tree rather than a P2 P seed for everyone?

Because trading is fun and it gets even more stuff out there (trading for this and that) - and since Prince has garnered a whole new set of fans recently, there are lots of "newbie" traders and it's easier to trade CDRs than DVDRs and not everyone downloads.

However these tracks came out, and for whatever reason, it's only for the benefit of Prince's legacy (whether he realizes it or not) and I for one am positively THRILLED to know that shit that people didn't even know existed is now coming out in perfect quality....particularly from the year or 2 before he changed his name.

Those were incredible strange, yet exciting times to be a Prince fan, but also incredibly frustrating ones, as you would continually read about different projects and tracks that he was working on and you would never get to hear them.

I like the idea of trading trees...personally, my dumb ass could never really figure out ABMP. And there's something about someone actually caring enough to burn and mail that CD out just for you...well, that just adds to the joy that you get from the music.

I've been lucky to have met some amazingly cool people on here who love Prince's music as much as I do, and who also love sharing it with others as much as I do. In turn, I've done the same....share the wealth, I say! It makes me sad to meet a hardcore Prince fan who has never heard ANY bootlegs. I would not be anywhere near as big a fan as I am were it not for bootlegs, and personally I'm fucking foaming at the mouth over this one.

True about the download option. Not eveyone has the bandwidth or will.

Trading is great, but what would you suggest a "newbie" trade? Or are they simply looking for charity?

I remember when I started collecting. Closed shops, user groups, it took years to break.

Do you believe the releaser of this new tracks "freed" them or passed on stolen goods?

A newbie can trade blank CDs if you have nothing to trade that the trader doesn't already have. And if you join a tree you just participate in sending it to other people and so forth and spread the wealth that way. I have no idea what you mean by "freed" - they just put them into circulation for people to trade and share who don't download. Serioulsy - what's the big deal? How did you get them anyway?

My thoughts exactly! I don't download either and if it weren't for the trading circles (who are very generous - I had NO PROBLEMS getting boots and I just started a couple months ago) I wouldn't have access to some amazing pieces of music.

Following a post from Boris regarding the newly circulating "Poet99" outtakes, I thought it useful to comment on the following tracks that have recently emerged and are currently circulating among collectors:

01. "Shy #1" (4:51)
02. "Gold #1" (4:57)
03. "What's My Name" (3:09)
04. "Come #2" (4:49)
05. "Endorphin Machine" (3:51)
06. "Chaos And Disorder" (4:13)
07. "Right The Wrong" (4:42)
08: "Shy #2" (5:04)
09. "Gold #2" (7:38)

Featuring entirely different arrangements, little overdubbing and, in some cases, different lyrics, these tracks are demo-like and crystal clear.

The overall advice is "Please go find a trader near you... you won't be disappointed".

.

Nice of you NOT to include a link to where this info came from. mad

But these tracks are also NOT just circulating amongst collectors. They have been released on a FREE bootleg label called Free As A Bird.

Read all about it here:

Join a tree for trading this great release here:

or

Europe: http://www.housequake.com...adid=25838

Or simply post a request for trades at http://www.housequake.com

Remember this release is intended to be free even though it´s the best outtake release for many years!!

Seriously, if you're gonna quote all the fantastic information Chastity took the time to type over at Housequake, at least drop their name or a link! I'm sure you meant no harm, but they're on top of these things a bit more than the org lately, so I think they should at least be referenced when being quoted. smile

That's what I don't get. I love trading and all (taking a rest for now) but I have rarely sseen P2P on any of this stuff. I do it. I just put together a Prince folder and put everything in there and share. Usually Videos. I don't believe in paying for this stuff, as the money doesn't go to P...but will buy the occasional DVD (as those are HARD to trade).

Yeah I hear about these collectors holding onto this stuff. It's like Chewbacca and it doesn't make much sense as aren't all of us about freeing the music "open the vaults Prince please" kinda people?

Wow - I've had a whole different experience. I not only started trading for DVDs first - but never had an easier time of it.

And whoever "freed" the 93-94 wasn't holding onto it - they just wanted to ignite some trading since it gets "newbies" started in the trading trees and not everyone (myself included) downloads music and videos from the P2P sites. Also, it's obvious that the tracks (as most boots do) will end up on one eventually anyway - but in the meantime, the stuff is circulating freely and I've seen the outakes given away for FREE already.

As long as people are releasing the music - why does it matter HOW they do it?

Case and point for those of you who download... for those of you who don't, you can get it from a friendly trader on HQ smile

Anyway, enjoy the outtakes - they're great! biggrin

P.S.
Since it was requested that they not be downloaded and someone didn't respect that - wonder if they'll release more stuff? Hmmmm?

Yep, I don't understand the negativity - free is free - no-one has asked for money for these tracks and they are easily obtainable trading on other sites.
So you might actually have to initiate contact with another person instead of just sitting in front of your computer and downloading? Damn, you might actually have to go out to the mailbox!
Is that a bit too last century for you?
