VMA'S--He's nominated..should he perform?

His performance of Gett Off is legendary...but since this is basically an under 25 yo demographic...is it worth performing? I mean really..is there anybody under 25 who would be impressed with him performing Kiss? Or will he have to pull a Grammy move and pair up with some "it" person right now like Beyonce or Outkast? (I can see Justin Timberfake taking Renato's place on the keyboards now smile )

if he did something really off da chain... maybe even fronted for The Roots..he could score some points there...don't think the "music played by musicians thing" would go over too well...he'd probably do Dolphin or The Christ or sumthin to kill the joy

If he did, he'd have to perform a kick ass rendition of an old song to sho the youth. The chances of that are unlikely - he's killed Let's Go Crazy.

Ideally he'd perform Controversy or Bambi (for the guitar)

Baby can't you see --- I'm callin'
A guy like you --- should wear a warnin'

Coming from a man who showed serious concern when asked to sing 'Your butt is mine --- you're not a man'

smile

He could incorporate it in a medley kind of 'When you were mine' version.

I think it actually would be pretty impressive to the young ones if he brought back the split and did them a bunch of times in a row like in the Rave DVD. He could do it in a rendition of "Let's Go Crazy" WITHOUT the horns.

That would be fantastic, such a great choice - Pretty much unknown, but known enough, and a kick-ass track that grabs you by the balls/tits on the first listen wink

I don't think he's performing from all I've read, the rumour was he was presenting only.

He most definetly needs to perform on the VMA's this year. To me it's just as important to be on that awards show as it was to be on the Grammys, if not even moreso. He can perform Musicology and then do something from the past like When Doves Cry. Prince doesn't need to have anyone else perform with him this time. That was important for the Grammy's. The time is NOW and I'm praying like crazy that Prince will take advantage of this.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

How about this for a set to close the show :
Sign O the times.....,
which turns into the White Stripes' Seven Nation Army.....
Then Outkast come onstage for Bombs Over Baghdad!

Topical, Funky, Political... & Prince gets to play some shredding guitar solo's on live TV, the rest of the world realises how awesome he is.

& we all live purpley ever after,
The End
I've never been one for this thing obsession...

Do these awards mean anything anymore? People still tune in for the show, but I'm assuming it's for the performances these days?
