Purple Rain (movie)

What did you guys think of Purple Rain (movie not soundtrack)? I just saw it yesterday (yes, I know, I am horrible for not seeing it earlier..) and I really liked it. I know a lot of people said it was really bad...

For a ROck N Roll Musical, it beats anything Elvis, MJ, or Maddonna ever did.

That , of course, doesn't make it a good movie--but at least it sucks less than other Musicals, and is vastly superior to Graffiti Bridge.

It took twelve years before someone pointed out the fact that no instruments are plugged in. They are just miming along to nothing. It will look better once I have the two disc anniversery DVD in my collection.

I liked the movie quite a bit. The acting pretty much sucked, but it was still entertaining. Eminem is a better actor than Prince, but Em's movie was nothing more than a thinly disguised remake of Purple Rain. And Prince's songs stomp all over Eminem's. Not 2 mention, Prince's movie showed boobs. Em showed maybe part of his ass. I'd take boobs, any day.

Luv & Peace,
Alex

I LOVE This Movie.. I Cannot Tell ya How many Times I've seen it..Some times back to back .. It made me Happy. Then well if it was on T.V. I watched it. Even got Cable to Watch it . Stayed-Up like a Freak Taping it from T.V. Censored. Once Cinnemax had like a Prince Marathon had to Add Cinnemax. I'm like Disappointed in a Store's Credibility as Good if they Don't have This Video or DVD in Stock or if they Don't Stock Prince well I Don't Think they are Too Hip to COOL!

ummmm... it was a movie, not a live performance. No one ever plays with their instruments plugged-in in a movie. (if you didn't know, they were also lip-synching)

Hi

Just watched the movie for the first time. I actully have seen bits and pieces of it but never contiguosly from beginning to end. Yeah the acting sucks! But I respect the musical talents. I grew up with 80's music, and I never really liked Prince a whole lot back then. But recently, I have aquired a taste for his music, especially his real old stuff.

The movie is quite interesting...Its seems to be autobiographical, but how much of it is true? It also made me fall in love with Wendy and Lisa all over again! The Revolution were truly Prince's band ever! I hope they get back together someday.

"Purple rain" is cool, but I actually way prefer "Garffiti bridge"! "GB" has that gorgeous dark blue dreaming look (lighting) that is quite like a late 80's-early 90's film but also is quite unique.....the smoke, the clothes (check out Miko weaver), the slang.....

If u still like "Purple rain", then u'll love other very 80's movies as "Purple rain" is as 80's as u can get (both soundtrack and movie!)

Prince's acting sucks and simply put, Morris outright steals the movie from Prince.....Prince as the kid in "purple rain" can't act.....or is given a crappy character that is hard to act with.....whatever.....

The kid in "GB" is even moodier then "Purple rain", but is made funny when he confronts Morris and the time later on.....u know when Morris says "U still got the price tag on ya" bit..... yhe kid don't confront Morris in "Purple rain" does he? I can't remember.....

I have seen that movie at least 30 times, and I still love it even though I haven't watched it in years. I remember when it first came to video and renting it over and over, until I finally bought it.

UTCM is the best of the three. That movie is hilarious if U like P's humor!! Purple Rain is amazing too. Love it, bad acting and all. Graffiti Bridge is good too, the weakest of the three but still a good movie!!

I pretty much agree...UTCM is the best movie Prince has done, Purple Rain is good too, but Graffiti Bridge is still horrible...only a few redeeming features in the "good cheese" stakes.

Face ur fear revisit Graffiti Bridge, i just did on the weekend & I came out alive!
I look at it as a musical - or u can consider it as a 90 minute film clip.
Face the fear. UTCM i love it & PR seen it 35 times (but whose counting)
WHY SHOULD I DO THAT, WHEN I CAN DO THIS
