I know about the end of "Darling Nikki" and I just found out about "Baby, I'm A Star" a few weeks ago, embaressingly enough, through someone on this site. Check out the B Side "Girl". I can hear something backwards in that song. I haven't gotten around to checking it out but I am going to.

As for playing it on your PC, I am from the old school so I can tell you.....check with Handclpsandfingasnaps on the joys of turntables. She is young but I applaud her taste!

Make sure you've got the 12" version of girl... I don't think the 7" version (from the Hits/B-sides) has that backward section.

It's kind of hard to hear but if you speed the song "Adore", "Musicology", or "When 2 R In love" up, you can hear the following words:

It's very hard to detect--you have to play it at the right speed.

How do you play a song backwards ?????

OK, I just listened to the 12 Inch version of "Girl" backwards over and over and over. It is a female voice. It is not Lisa or Wendy. I don't know who the woman is. Her voice sounds similar to the female voice in The Time's "If The Kid Can't Make You Come". She is talking low and in a sexy voice, kind of like Prince did in "Automatic" when he starts talking low and you can only make out certain phrases.

Anyway, here is what I could make out:

"Boy, you excite me so.....my flesh is on fire. I bet you're quite a lover. Boy, I'd like to take you home and wrap my legs around you.....Boy, you're so good. I can't resist you. Boy I love you so much"

All of this is not said at one time. Some of it is spread out throughout the record. She said other things too but I could not make them out because she was talking so low and Prince's moans were playing backwards distracting me.

If anyone has a turntable or if you can play it backwards on a PC. Listen closely in your RIGHT speaker. Her voice is only coming out of one speaker. I try turning it backwards with my finger but I couldn't make it out because she talks so low. It's not an easy one like the end of "Darling Nikki", I had to flip the backwards switch and play it at regular speed.

To those asking:

To play a song backwards you need to rip it first off the cd to the pc (convert it to .wav -format). Then you need some audio editor program, where you open the wav file and then just reverse it (how to do it depend on your audio editor, but it shouldn't be too difficult. Of course, not all of them can do it, but most can).

Of course, this is much easier (and more fun!) to do with good old record player (you know those big black cds )

you have to rip to the song so it becomes a .WAV file instead of MP3
then you go to Start > Programs > Accessories > Entertainment > Recorder
There you have the option to play the song backwards

Playing the extended version of Girl backwards is fun. Anyone with a PC and a little computer knowledge can do it.

The entire "intro" to Prince and Mayté's duet "However Much U Want" from Mayté's
'Child Of The Sun' album is backward masking.

I can't remember what they say to each other, but Prince and her have a short kind of
conversation that sounds quite Arabian when backmasked. Perhaps that's why it's on
there, because it sounds like it's supposed to be there.


There's also a scream of some sort in "The War" that sounds like backmasking, but
when you cut and reverse it to play it on your pc, it sounds exactly the same the other
way around.

I think that was a goof Prince put in there, just for fanatics. People who hear that kind
of noise and go "this must be some hidden message", only to play it reversed and find
that it gives exactly the same sound both ways.
