Although some of the musicianship on the CD is amazing, the songs just don't stick with me, and Tony M is one big reason.
Prince does not need Tony M to "improve" his songs. And to say that Prince is all-knowing and perfect when it comes to collaborations is ridiculous. He's made music with some terribly untalented people in his day... I'm not slamming him for it, but look at the list of groups he signed to Paisley Park Records.... Still, Symbol has enough good tracks to make me play it routinely...but I do skip tracks quite a bit. If it breaks when it bends, you better not put it in.

What a terrible thing to say. I love Tony M. If it wasn't for Tony M, Prince would be nowhere. Check out the rap on Jughead.

I am HARDLY what you'd call a "Tony M fan"..
but I suppose that I could admit that he added A LITTLE something to some of the songs on "symbol".. anyway, it's hard to imagine "Sexy MF" without him on it.. I still remember the 1st time I saw the "Morning Papers" video.. how I fainted when I saw Tony on stage.. HOLDING (& actually PLAYING?) a guitar!!!!! I'll see you tonight..

How can TheMax possibly not like TonyM? His rap comlemented Prince's music perfectly. Many of the songs with his contribution are my all-time favorites.
I'd take TonyM over Snoop and Dre any day! I don't need mysogyny, chronic worship, and violence to enjoy rap. "When they tell me 2 walk a straight line, I put on crooked shoes"

youngworld said: In th minority here... Tony M's rap style was alright for the day. Sure, if we compare it to today's style, it doesn't fit and almost seems amateurish, but it acually works (but barely).
alright for the day...? sorry, man. their was a lot of very dope hip hop that came out around the same time that easily makes some of today's bling bling joints look like tony m standing beside prince. .::'xpert lover, my baby. ever had a crystal ball?' - crystal ball::.
