I don't remember Prince ever doing that in the 1990s but of course these dead ass radio stations down here ain't shit.

In the 1980s, R&B played the hell out of Prince and the pop stations began playing him in 1983. In the 1990s, R&B played very little Prince and pop didn't play any. Of course, that's in my neck of the woods though.

That is a great idea you had though. Personally, I would like to hear "Cinnamon Girl" (my favorite track) on R&B radio. Somebody needs to shake R&B up and get it out of its rut.

1989 with Arms Of Orion to top 40 and Scandalous to Urban
1991 with Diamonds And Pearls to top 40 radio and Insatiable to Urban
1992 with 7 To top 40 radio and Damn u to Urban
1996 with Betcha By Golly Wow to top 40 radio and Somebody's Somebody to Urban

Yeah but I have never really known this to be hugely successful and correct me if I am wrong. Also this isn't going to help Lenny's album I don't think and I think Prince is getting closer and closer to releasing Cinnamon girl as its own single and I like that idea better.

Peace

besides, distributing the album with concert tickets is a bold enough move to get the industry buzzing.

Just wondering, has Lenny ever had a huge hit on urban radio? I've never heard any of his stuff on an R&B station. He's considered rock/pop.

I think "It Ain't Over till it's over" was released to urban radio. Not sure on the chart position. The video was played on BET back in 91.

Well I for one never liked the idea of having one song go to Top 40 and another go to Urban radio. I always felt he released the best songs to the Urban field and some of the weaker ones to Top 40. I would have loved to hear Damn U or Insatiable on Top 40 radio because they would have been bigger than they were. That's just my 2 cents.

Newsflash to those of you who don't understand how a record label works. Most crossover artists want simultaneous releases. The LABEL decides when and if they are going to do it, not the artist. The artist suggests; the label says yay or nay. Understand that promoting a single is a multi-million dollar venture. Every single in the top 25 has at least $3-5mil behind it. Rest assured. Labels run the dual single thing by the accountants. Since Prince owns his label now, he can do what he wants. Still, to promote airplay for two songs simultaneously is quite a financial venture. Lenny runs it by Virgin, who decides if they think he's good for it or not, then gives the thumbs up...or down.

R&B radio down here played all of those and they also "I Hate You" and "Pink Cashmere". The only one from your list that top 40 played was "Diamonds and Pearls".

Please realize, I am only talking about what they played down here in my "neck of the woods".

First of all, it's obvious that you don't know your history when it comes to music as well as Prince. How can you even compare the two? Lenny is doing what Prince should have done? Man... you need to go somewhere with this whack bullshit! Lenny hasn't made a decent song since God fucking knows when and if he would quit trying to sound like everyone else, then maybe the quality of his music would be worth a shit.

Lenny can piss off for all I care!
