The next album

Prince said the next one would be for the fans, so what do you want from it? I'd like either a fully fledged FUNK album played with the band, or a seriously GUITAR oriented venture. The greatest hits acoustic album seems like it'll be neither.

It should be a phychodelic album with elemets from all his musical styles with lush symphonic passages, rock beats, industrial romps, techno elemets, all in a tight concisive 3-CD set, revolving around lyrics about vaginas.

I really like Prince when he works alone, w/ small appearances by the band. I would like Prince to give us a recording that encompasses a ll of the elements you mentioned.

I really want to have all extended versions w / B-sides on CD or downloadable @ NPGMC. That would make NPGMC a very busy place.

No - give me a Prince album with a full band playing (but no-one else singing/rapping). I love SOTT, Controversy and 1999, but otherwise it's the band albums like Lovesexy, The Gold Experience and The Rainbow Children that blow me away. No more synth horns!

A thought...

Prince doesn't sound anywhere near as FUNKY without his band nowadays. His ability to lay down a truly innovative or seriously funky beat is sadly lacking, and without inspiration from the players in his band, he's on route to producing another 'expected' album worth of songs like Musicology (which is fine for mass consumption, but not for musical heads). The Rainbow Children sounded as good as it did because of the live sound his band gave it. Musicology would have sounded much better with a similar feel. Prince alone in the studio ain't funky no more, long gone are the days of Camille.

now, see.

'The Rainbow Children' was mostly Prince doing the music. Larry did bass on two songs, "Last December" and "The Work,Pt.1"
The live drums were by Johnny B-well.
&, of course, the Hornheadz

on 'Musicology,' there were more "band"-oriented songs on it,
ie. "The Marrying Kind" thru "Dear Mr. Man"

So, you're saying that you like the 'N.E.W.S.' collection better cuz it's a full band?

I loved his acoustic sets in his concerts, but I don't want to reminisce anymore. I want him to come out with a fresh, 13+ song, up tempo, ass kicker of an album. Raging guitar, pounding drums(don't be afraid of the synthesizer), and sexy female background vocals. I just want him to go wild. LOUD!!! One or two ballads for the ladies, other than that, WRECK SHIT!!! Just put a Purple Mushroom Cloud on the Cd cover and a warning sticker stating, "NOT FOR THE FAINT OF FUNK!" headbang

Trebor

I hope his next album is really lame pathetic and gay.
I think After this so called come back, he needs 2 do something to destroy all his hard work.
I hope it is some house album, with gareth Hates appearing on every track.
trust me, his next album will be his weakest yet.

He needs an album that tells a story of growing up and making mistakes.

Travelogue-esque. Not revisiting old haunts.

Just a straight forward fun album. Let him write songs about riding around on his bike. Him doing grocery shopping.

Give us Renato, Candy on backing vox. I want harmonies. Demo's, no production tricks. Just a lil studio and some fun. Let him turn his songs around a bit before he commits them to tape...

I am not saying he should. I just wish he would. Let him do another Joni, but with groovy melodies.

He said his next album is "for the fans". He needs to do an album for the fans that were with him from the beginning and not just from "Little Red Corvette" on to the present. He needs to bring back the synths, the Linn, get rid of the horns and orchestra, and do something like "1999".

We need something futuristic, we are living in a new millineum.

Not really. The music from the album "1999" was very futuristic. The music in the real year 1999 was far from futuristic unless you count house music and it was underground.

"1999" was only futuristic in 1982. Ain't nothin' futuristic about the Linn, or synths now.
It's what an artist has to say that matters.

Unfortunately I fear the worst. Some JW inspired album. Unfortunately he always manages to lose the public interest when his momentum is at its peak. He needs another publicly accepted album before he gets back to his overt creativity.

Yes, the sound that N.E.W.S had is exactly the kind of sound Prince should commit to record.

Very true, the "general" public have now accepted Prince again, he needs to keep the momentuem going so another safe alum will be needed.

Don't want any jazz, just want an album with inspired song writing and his actual band playing the songs with him.
