Vastly.

Prince's best album of the 90's was 'The Truth'. I can say that the production on 'The Gold Experience' was the best of any of his albums. But the tracks themselves just absolutely pale in comparison to his earlier material.

Well, I dont think so...there are some strong songs there. Ok, there are some bad tracks as ´We march´ but some killer funks and rock and rolls.
For me, the production could have been better. It´s kind of overproduced in some tracks.

i love TGE but i do kinda of understand why some fans feel it is not as good as prince.
however; beyond us hardcore fans, i think TGE is massively underrated by the public. when it finally came out after much public fueding between prince/ prince and WB, alot of casual fans had lost patience and jumped ship. the critics couldn't even review this album properly cause they were 2 busy making TAFKAP jokes. in short: the man was the main story, NOT the music. the music got ignored. IMO.

I have two problems with 'The Gold Experience' CD...

***Sure,it's a great album, but look at all the good songs that Prince left OFF the album...."Days Of Wild","Interactive","Hide The Bone","Acknowledge Me" and "Ripopgodazippa".At an early stage, all of those songs were intended for the album. Those are top-notch songs that would have made tha album even stronger than it is!!

***This album was so heavily bootlegged that,by the time it was finally released, the only two songs I didn't already have were "Shy" and "We March"! It's a shame that this album was caught up in that nasty war Prince was having with Warner Bros.I think,in the end,the feud with Warners prevented both sides from promoting this CD effectively (which is why it wasn't really successful).

I love the Gold Experience.

Along with prince album, I would say it's his best album of the 90's and one of the best albums he's ever done.

Everyone's got their own taste though.

R U kidding? The Gold Experience is one of my favorite CDs.

The infectious keyboards on P Control...the howling guitar licks on Endorphinmachine...the incredible drum play on Shhh...then the funk continues w/Now, 319, BJB the ballads TMBGITW (love doing this on karaoke), I Hate U and the classic uplifting Gold. I think TGE was the tragic victim of the Prince/WB feud.

yup...TGE...very overrated...some songs had potential but...overproduced...

Come & Chaos & Disorder are his best official 90's releases in my humble opinion...

My attempt to enlighten you smile

The Gold Experience is one of my favorite Prince albums. To me, it is the Purple Rain of the 90's. Like Purple Rain, and Sign O the Times, it has every element that makes a great Prince album.

The Gold experience is full of deep funk tracks to get the ass movin'(Pussy Control, Now, Billy Jack Bitch). It is has get straight out rock numbers (Endorphine Machine, Dolphin, 319.) It has great ballads (Most Beautiful Girl in the World, I hate U, Shhhh.) Also, It has the grand scaled anthem to close it -GOLD.

This album is Prince perfectly straddling the line between commercial sounding/pop stuff and out there innovative sounding stuff. Just like he did on Purple Rain, Sign O the Times, and to some extent 1999.

If anyone asked me to give them a Prince album as an example of what he is all about-after Purple Rain and Sign O the Times I'd give them the Gold Experience.

Just one person's opinion.

yeah yeah...what skywalker said!

Gold Experience overrated? What have you been smoking?
This album is great, funky, funny, true feelings, each song is different and unique, the lyrics are breath taking, funny and funky, the music makes you dance your booty off, the slow songs make you want to make love, Everyone has a right to their opinion, but mine is the gold experience is a classic, the thing I love about prince is the diversity of his music you get great music, all different styles, funk, county, opera, big band, jazz, r&b, hip hop, etc. all on the same album. Nobody does that, and nobody can even compete with the quality of it, With prince the songs that you don't care for when you first listen to the CD will become your favorites on the Cd. I loved every cd that he made, Graffity Bridge had some lyrics about the creator that still empowers me. Chaos and disorder was great to me, my least listened to CD is Rave, but it is still good. Better than; anybody else in the business. So stop comparing his music to his music, because they all are his music. (you all sound like music critics, and you know music Critic can't play music. so give it up)
How you gonna get my back when you fronting.
