Is it true what they wrote in WORD magazine?

I saw the latest WORD magazine with Prince on the cover and had a quick look through it 2day. What caught my eye though was towards the end of the article they done a feature section where they reviewed the history of Prince over the last 25 years. They mention Prince's parents passing away within 6 months of each other, but they also claim that Prince became a Jehovah's Witness because it was his mother's dying wish for him to join the faith

?

This has taken me back a little for a few reasons.

One, he was down with JW way b4 the passing of his mother, everyone knows it was Larry that introduced him to the religion.

Two, is there any record of Prince's mother being JW?

Or is the article saying that she gave Prince his blessing to do what he wished, but she wasn't apart of JW herself?

I find it strange considering after this bit of information, they go into how Prince went door to door to convert people to JW, and knocking on a Jewish houshold door to convert, but they said no. THAT WAS CJ's ARTICLE! mad Is the story true at all?

Im just wondering how much of the article rings true?

Personally, I don't believe this is true, just some journalistic license.

I've heard it said in numerous articles that Prince's mother's dying wish was for Prince to become a JW, so I can only assume it's true from the quantity of articles that have stated it.
