I'd go with "Prince: A Documentary" or "Dance Music Sex Romance". I don't know if they're still in print though.
NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

Dear Heidi. Go to http://www.uptown.se/2004...ault.shtml and order The Vault. Which had EVERYTHING you can wish for.

The only one I've read is "Possessed: The Rise And Fall Of Prince". It had some VERY interesting dirt in it. I don't know how true it is but I was impressed by the long list of ex-Prince associates the author interviewed for the book. I wish he could have reached Lisa, Wendy, and Andre.

So what's the difference between THE VAULT , TURN IT UP 2.0 and DAYS OF WILD ? And which one is the best?

The Vault is the summum of those two other books; it's the updated version of both, with new additions, new info, new pics and all the info you could ever wish for (and more) on Prince, his life and his music.

As Gooey recommends, Heidi - buy it.

It's a limited edition yearbook run.

It's an encyclopedia rather than a novel, but with a limited edition run, and you can pick other books up later.

to be honest, i kinda prefer DMSR...i think it's a much better read, easier to navigate through, and far less typos and factual errors than The Vault. i know it's supposed to be the end all and be all of prince info, but i was a little less than overwhelmed by it. i like the chronology in The Vault, and that it goes up to 2004, but DMSR is just a more coherant, interesting read in my opinion.

I'm hoping for DMSR pt.2 biggrin

They are different things though - I see The Vault is more of a reference material, an encyclopedia of Prince if you will, where as DMSR is a straight biography upto 1987.

I say get both cool

confused my copy doesnt have the new pics... it doesnt have any pics at all. Apart from that, it is the best you can get. Its not for cover-to-cover reading (for that id recommend DMSR or DOW) but it is a Prince-encyclopedia, or as i call it, Prince-bible.
