Just bought a copy of the Madhouse 16 album on vinyl and all i can say is WOW! It's amazing. I wouldn't say it's as experimental as NEWS but it's certainly funkier. The 9 track. I wish he was making funk like that now. Could somebody tell me what the first one (8) is like. Is it better, worse? I'm now hoping to find the two on cd on ebay. How much do you reckon they'll go for? Peace out and b wild!

If you like Madhouse 16 your going to flip for 8 because it's much much better. The cd's are quite expensive on ebay.

16 is one of my very favourite Prince records. Fourteen is sublime, very, very under-rated.

I know 8 is usually more popular, but I'm definately a bigger fan of 16.

i'm more familiar with 8 but i think 16 is a lot more interesting.

I don't think Prince had an awful lot to do with the Madhouse albums, the first one wasn't even recorded at the Paisley Park studios.
Pretty neat tunes though.

I think i like 8 a little more because 16 sounds more
beat-machine groove oriented as opposed to the live drum sound on 8.

The song "one" is just awesome with that quiet little
bass break down near the end
Before Prince's recent Jazz output, "One" would be one of
the songs that i would lay on someone to make them say:
"This is Prince..... Wow!"

and you know that Prince really liked the song "four"
as it was on the b-side of one of the singles and he has
used it in live versions of Dorothy Parker for years.

They are as much Prince as New Power Soul is.

I was recently given a recording called "Madhouse - Raving Mad"

What is this? I can't find it listed as a Madhouse of Prince B-Side, yet the quality of the recording is expectional - is it an outtake or something different?

Any help appreciated!

There's actually another band out there named Madhouse. I don't know what kind of music they play but it is DEFINATELY not Prince-related. I always wondered how they got away with calling themselves Madhouse.

Oh the track I have is def. Prince related - has samples from Rave and stuff - its very possibly just a fan made fake.

Today I found out that my local library (they have over 300.000 cd's there) has Madhouse 8 & 16. Surprise! Tomorrow I'll get them, and rip 'm to mp3. Niiiice!

When did this come out? I keep hearing people talk about it. I am trying my best to collect all P's music. Being a new member and all is exciting.
