Am I in the minority, here?

Am I the only one that actually likes the ever expanding horn section Prince uses on his CDs and in concert? I think The Rainbow Children is one of Prince's greatest albums. I feel the horns add to his sound and sometimes energize it to a level where I feel as though my head may explode if my booty don't shake.

booty!

Not necessarily. I love the horns and I think people just can't get over how great the Revolution was...but a good artist has to move on, plain and simple. Prince is keeping it fresh for himself and the bulk of his audience who obviously love the way he's doing things currently or he wouldn't be selling out shows around the world.

No I love the horn section. I love the horn section live reworking songs like Sign O the Times. I don't understand some peoples problems with horns around here but I am with you I think that they are brilliant.

Peace

I said it was "one of his greatest," actually. Sorry you're now without an ass.

Good to be in good company!
biggrin

Any performer that's been around for years eventually angers fans when he/she goes in a direction different from the one he/she was originally headed. Usually people like the style of the CD they got into first -- almost always at a young age. Then they age and start thinking about things "back in the day" and grow more and more angry over the new style the performer's adopted. I think a lot of them think that if the performer remade the album they initially loved, over and over again, they'd still love the performer. Whenever a performer does that, it turns out not to be the case. Performers try to emulate their early work and they end up being hated even worse by the "old school" gang. I think that's because it's not the new direction the performer took that upset his or her fans; it's the fact the fans have gotten older and don't have the interest they once did in rock and roll music. Because it brings back memories, they'll always love the stuff that they did when they were young. That's why there's basically an "oldies" station for every age group. You can even find stations devoted to music of the nineties. People's interest in rock usually freezes when they hit about 25 years old. What they liked up to that point, they still like. What comes after is "weak," etc...

At least that’s my take on it.
