Graffiti Bridge Or The Symbol Album? Which One Is Your Favorite? I personally think that both albums are varied and awesome, but I think The Symbol Album is better than GB. Graffiti Bridge had to many guest appearances and it was a little uneven. The Symbol Album was a little more funkier and it was a little more varied in the musical styles. But, The Symbol Album was a little overproduced and a little glossy like GB. Which album is your favorite? Post your opinions... Check me out and add me on:

Better songs and no crappy associated artists (only the Time are any good on GB) . [This message was edited Sat Jul 17 23:31:29 2004 by mrdespues]

is simply a better album, Love 2 the 9's is a gem. But it's hard to dismiss GB b/c of Q of U, Joy In Rep & We Can Funk...

true, but three goods songs don't make a great album. although I would have thrown in still would stand all time, too.

GB isn't even close. I'm not a big fan of either of them, but has some *incredible* songs.

Neither. Both poor albums. "If you really want something in this life, you have to work for it - Now quiet, they're about to announce the lottery numbers!"

"Graffiti Bridge". I much prefer that 1990 pop sound to that bizarro 1992 Arabic sound on "".

As for Graffiti Bridge, there is not much of Prince on that album and the little bit of Prince that is on that album is weak. I like Graffiti Bridge better because of the protegees but then that would not be fair to choose it over the Symbol album because of the protegees. Andy is a four letter word.

"Graffiti Bridge" for me. It has more variation; it has less Tony M; it has "We Can Funk", "The Question of U", "Joy In Repetition" and "Still Would Stand All Time"... plus it doesn't bring back memories like the "Symbol" album does...

I hardly ever listen to either album, but both contain a few gems from Joy In Repetition and Theives In The Temple to 7 and Damn U. Both poor (I have listened) relatively speaking but if I had to choose one I'd take Symbol.

Not even close. The 0+> album is a total listen. I skip thru 50% of bridge. 0+> is the album i go to when im in the mood for nothing specific (Insert something clever here)

When I first heard Graffiti Bridge, I didn't like the other signers that took up 40% of the album. I also didn't like the opennin song, the fact that there was no heavy guitar presence, and that the title song sounded so..so..so..Made for Children's programming??
The abulm eventually grew on me, but not becuase of it's own merit but beccuase I was an obsessed Prince fan. The album was a different story. Having been so incredibly dissapointed with Diamonds and Pearls, I was happy to see this album was many times more fierce--it was what Diamonds and Pearls could have been. It only suffered from all the hip hop that dotted it.

Agreed is slightly better, but it does not deserve that much praise, certainly in the bottom quarter of his work, but GB had Mavis Staples and she has done some exceptional work (better than Aretha, I think). Just listen to Time Waits For No-one.
Both are pretty crappy with a few pick out tunes.

, thanks to "7", "Sexy M.F." and "3 Chains O' Gold".
There's perhaps one song in Graffiti Bridge I like, "We Can Funk".

I have got to go with that symbol album
Even though 3 Chains Of Gold and Graffity Bridge to me are equal in sillyness, has got a theme that is not recycled, like most jams on Graffity Bridge. And even though some parts of are pompous (The Max, before mentioned Chains), it boasts beauties like God Created Woman and consequently stays irritating with an incomprehensible plot. I love it. My fave jam are prob Sexy M.F. and The Morning Papers.

Oh thats easy is my favourite out of the two
just simply cause it was the first prince album i bought aged 12 i think and will always remind me of being young and naughty.

I like them both and I feel each ablum has it's own unique sounds and feel to it.. but if I had a choice I would say The Symbol album

I wouldn't put either of them in a time capsule, but the symbol album did contain some of the most exciting material that Prince had released in years. Unfortunately, one had to wade through countless segues and some pretty horrifying attempts at rap to find the worthwhile material. There's a fairly great 35-40 minute album to be found there - GB, on the other hand, probably has enough decent material to fill up a 45 rpm single.

If you just keep the Prince tracks off GB, its a hell of a single album. Love both, but GB edit for me. .
