How long will they love him? While i have been an avid Prince fan for almost 15 years, I am enjoying the current renaissance of Prince and his work in the broader sense. I feel that his props as an artist have been long overdue. However, how long do you consider this love affair with the media and the broader musical audience will last for? Until the end of the tour? Will it continue over to his next release or over several more albums? Infact, will it end... Does the so-called 'comeback' run deeper than a mere nostalgia trip/Media fad to the casual fan?

I think it will last if he comes back with something strong. Prime aka The Kid

This recent avalanche of media attention has done something very very important: It has created/introduced a whole new generation of fans to Prince. Kids who weren't even born when "Purple Rain" hit are now discovering his genius. Don't believe me? Several concert reviews pointed out that Prince's audiences were younger than they have been since the 80's.
Hopefully this renewed interest in Prince will prompt re-issues of his earlier albums etc. Prince-is ageing more gracefully than I would have guessed. [This message was edited Thu Jul 15 10:38:56 2004 by skywalker] "New Power slide...."

Im guessing the mass praise will last the course of the album and tour. However, i agree with many of the points made above by skywalker. Prince is introducing himself t younger generations at the same time as re-igniting interest of past and casual fans. More importantly i feel that all this attention and acclaim will set princes next move up nicely. It would seem that, for the first time in a while, many people will care when the next prince album will be released. You'll never know a girl called Nikki and you'll never find Erotic City

P.S i think that for his next major release, Prince's album will be HOT. You'll never know a girl called Nikki and you'll never find Erotic City

I just hope with all this attention and success that he doesn't sell out to their forms of music to continue his success. Andy is a four letter word.
