I know a Musicology vs. Wildcard was recently posted here, but I think it would be better to compare TRC with Wildcard since they were released around the same time...so let the debating begin, which is better TRC or Wildcard!

4 me it's TRC.

TRC is certainly a better album. Wildcard has some better individual songs than those on TRC but doesn't work better as a whole. I like them both though and my mood dictates which I'd rather listen to.

Wildcard is a bit better than Musicology, though.

I definitely prefer Wildcard, it's a brilliant album with so many great songs.TRC just has some good songs , but that's about it and the lyrics are... . I still love to listen to Wildcard, but I hardly ever listen to TRC.

Wildcard is quite dull, worst of his (TTD's) albums IMO.
But TRC is one of my favourite Prince albums. Just stunning musicianship, great songs all the way, and i can easily ignore the lyrics. Actually, they dont really bug me aven if i read them.

So, no need to make comparisons. I dont really see any connection between these two albums, or the artists, except that TTD is nothing much than a 2nd class Prince-copy. Nice voice, though.

I have no idea what the Wild Card is (TTD?? does this mean Terence Trent D'Arby?? if so, never heard of it, and this is from someone who actually PURCHASED his shocking follow-up to Intoducing-The-Hard-line...) and I hate, to be bias, (as Christopher Walken would say in his punctuated sentences; but compare whateva the fuck Wildcard is, to "love like the rose in bloom, all of the rainbow children feel it soon")- 15 seconds of vocal perfection ...., 50 seconds of percussion and vocal genius - sorry, but D'Arby rots in the Sicilian gutter of hell....

Prince can by no means compare to Sananda (as TTD calls himself nowadays) vocally as Sananda's voice is by far superiour to Prince's

just take a look at this forum, its a prince board and you have about 90% of the board saying wildcard is better than both musicology and TRC


in 2003 i saw prince live and sananda live just a month later, and although im a huge prince fan, sananda's show i enjoyed much much more, he is a great talent and its a shame theres still ignorant people about that see him as the one hit wonder from the 80's

Vocally,TTD mops the floor up with Prince.Prince has very good vocal stylings,but as far as a natural kick ass voice-he aint got nothin on T.
Instruments?That's another story,and Prince's musicianship is always tops...however lyrically---P's always been hit or miss.He has his moments ,but by and large there's alot of mediocre/crap lyrics.
TTD on the other hand is a phenemonal lyricist/poet/storyteller.Like Sting and Joni Mitchell--the lyrics and stories create a visceral experience.While i dig alot of P's stuff,very few of his songs make me feel that way(shy,joy in repetition come to mind).
I stand by my statement on the other thread:TTD's albums in the 90's have far greater depth and edge then any of Prince's works in the 90's/2000's.

Yeah I saw both Sananda and Prince many times live over the years (and also both of them in 2003 more than once) and I agree that Sananda still kicks ass and is a brilliant live performer with an incredible voice
