Prince's Original Purple Rain Album

Okay, for those of you all that thought I was joking about the album, guess what? I'M NOT. So if I could please get someone to tell me how much I could get for the original Purple Rain album or record or whatever you want to call it, please let me know. If you would like to respond with a joke, please don't. And yes, it has the original poster and words include inside and the cover has nothing wrong with it because the record was stored in a box away from everything else. Now if anyone has any suggestions as to what I should do with the album, please let me know as I will be reading all responses. Thank-you.

If you were really reading all responses, you'd notice that I already told you: a used-record store might give you five bucks for your big black CD.

the most this cat could get for it is $5...mostly it depends on what condition the vinyl's in. if it's scratched to hell or warped a bit, then the most you'd get would probably be a dollar.

what condition's the vinyl in? any deep scratches, warps, anything on the surface that don't look right? geek

I paid something like $12 for an UNOPENED Purple Rain LP about 5 years ago, so... nah, find a turntable and spin the black circle.

Purple vinyl with poster would probably go for about £20 to £25

I know the last time I went into a (vinyl) record store, they had about 10 copies of this album ranging from 2-6 bucks depending on the condition. You got to remember that out of all his albums, this and 1999 were probably the MOST printed and I don't foresee any shortage anytime soon. They are cool finds as the artwork on most of these albums varies to disk. Some of these have cool spreads on the inside that do not appear on CD as well as you can appreciate the artwork more on albums such as "Around the World in a Day", "1999" and "Sign o' the Times" with the artwork/photography at the intended scale. The more complex album art doesn't really fit well on the CD format in my opinion.

The real treasures in these kinds of stores are the 12 inch singles which you'll find are much more rare. Prince really kicks ass on the B-Sides and sadly, a lot of them never made it to CD. A lot of these tracks found their way to that Hits package in the early 90's but are only short versions of the cool long extended jams/jems on these albums. I felt I found gold when I first got a hold of "La la la,hee hee hee". That extended version was soo cool to me. I used to run the turn table through the tape deck and make albums for my car all the time. I guess I'll have to do it again to CD one of these days now that my new car does not have a tape player.

Now, if you come across the Madhouse albums or a lot of other Prince side projects, hold on to those, they could make you some money on e-bay. Lord knows I paid a bundle for some of these.
