He influenced me to play, but that wasn't until 1990.

I remember a lot of people back then saying he was just an imitator not an innovator. Either way, make no difference. Going back to his first two albums (see specifically "I'm Yours" and "Bambi"), we know he's always played damned fine. Even when he was a young teenager visiting the music stores and trying out some new axes, the people were freaking at just what the Kid could do. This last year's Rock N Roll Hall of Fame performance (during "While My Guitar Gently Weeps") was a huge moment of vindication for him... finally!

yeah but man belive me there is a huge amount of ppl who don't know that prince plays guitar.
if he would focus more to record more guitar oriented music he would gain even bigger fan base.

The biggest problem I've found is that a lot of people define Prince by his handful of Top 10 singles. They know nothing more. Just gotta take 'em to a show or somethin'.

if he would focus more to record more guitar oriented music he would gain even bigger fan base. He doesn't need to focus more on guitar oriented music - he's a multi-instrumentalist who loves different styles of music and he'll play what suits his fancy. That's how he made his name, and that's how he'll continue to. To be pigeonholed for one thing after all he's accomplished would be more than a few steps back. And having said all that: he can still release a guitar oriented album at any time and if the music is good I sure as hell won't reject it. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

Something in the style of the coda of The Rainbow Children (song) or The Sensual Everafter. When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.
