The show was awesome. He also played on the 14th at the Fillmore. Here's my review of the show on the 15th:

Okay, just got in from the show. WOW WOW WOW! What a great show. Where to start? We did the usual several hours in line and around 9:15 when they were planning to let us in, they announced that Prince wanted a last minute sound check, so things would be delayed. No kidding! The supposed 11pm show didn’t start until 12:45! But as usual, it was all worth the wait…

The lineup – Rhonda on bass, Renato, Chance and Rad on keys, John B. on drums and Maceo, Greg and Candy on horns. Oh yeah, and Prince on guitar. The band started a bit before Prince came out. They went into Beautiful Ones and just jammed for a bit. Then Prince came out – white suit like the black one last night, with one side of the jacket longer than the other, black shirt, black handkerchief – stunning as usual. This time the heels of his white boots were sparkling with rhinestones. He launched into Beautiful Ones, complete with laying on the stage on his back, BELTING out every scream and nuance. I was in ecstasy already! THEN he goes into Insatiable – off the hook. Then it was into Nothing Compares 2 U with the crowd screaming the chorus at him. He loved it! At some point he announced "Prince is here! Prince is in YOUR house!"

Then we hit some technical snafus when his guitar would NOT work. Poor guy picks up that new crème de menthe color Stratocaster, tries to solo on it – all I could hear was the twanging of the strings (yes, I was that close!). He was miffed, handed it back to Takumi. They fooled with it, handed it back to him, still didn't work. Whoops! So having to improvise a bit, the band went into Pass the Peas with Maceo leading us. Prince jumped on keys because I am not sure Rad knew the part. It turned into a spirited jam. Love how Candy Dulfer gets so into the music, pumping her fists and smiling. Prince kept a smile on his face and worked the crowd. Eventually, after about 5 minutes and a lot of anxious techs running around, Prince was handed the guitar again and it worked! Yeah! I think this was the worst technical problems I’ve ever seen at a Prince show, but it was not all that big a deal.

With guitar in hand, he went into Question of U, which included The One (with a bit of Falling by Alicia Keys) and then closed with QofU again. Further ecstasy! I am not going to even try to follow the setlist from here because this is where I left my body and was watching from another plane. Transforming! Some other songs from the show (not in any order!): Sign O the Times (where he sang the first verse from the VIP balcony - it was great!), Days of Wild (with Larry Graham and Prince on bass – wicked!), America (woo hoo!), Let’s Work, Kiss, Everlasting Now, Diggity (Chance on vocals), House Party, U Got the Look, a Blues number where he talked about twins in his bed and funky breath, Take Me With U, I Want to Take You Higher, It Ain’t Over… House Party and Diggity were the only duplicates from the previous night’s setlist. Some other highlights: standing and grooving for most of the show then literally leaving the floor on Everlasting Now as I jumped up and down, up and down. That song is awesome in concert and gets me moving everytime. Love it!

Prince did 3 encores if I remember correctly, the first with Larry Graham on bass. After I Want to Take You Higher, they did Days of Wild which as always, was just OFF THE HOOK. I love that song in concert. He and Larry were facing off on the bass and in usual fashion, Prince played the bass like a lead guitar part of the time. At the end of Days of Wild, Prince took his bass off and sent it into the crowd to body surf, so to speak. It made its way to the back of the crowd where a soundman was waiting to take it back. Awesome! Prince had to cue the crowd a bit (Give it the soundman!) but it was a cool thing to do. Then I think it was off again and back on for another encore when he did It Ain’t Over. The last song of the night was the last encore which was House Party. A fun jam for the whole band.

Prince brought a crew on stage to dance as usual. Quite a few tonight actually. They did Take Me With U and Prince let some of the ladies take the lyrics which they did without hesitation. He enjoyed it and yucked it up. There was only one guy on stage and Prince pointed at him like “get on the mic!” and he shook his hands like no, no, no but Prince waved him on again and pointed at the lyric book. So the guy did his best but got rescued by the ladies eventually. One girl was so nervous she was shaking, but she did a great job. Prince had fun with it.

Oh and he did change outfits again tonight. The second outfit was the black suit from last night, but this time he did have a shirt on underneath it. And the black heels with the light up heels were there again. Love them!

All in all, a great Prince show. He played for 2 hours. I saw both shows and though both nights were amazing as far a live shows go, I certainly lost myself more in tonight’s performance. Probably because I knew so many of the songs and he really performed full versions of almost everything. I was so energized the entire time!

Thanks Prince and the NPG for another great night! And thanks John B. for the drumstick. Can't believe how chewed up it is! U must whack the you-know-what out of those drums! Oh and my favorite fan quote from the night: "Is John Blackwell human?" Good question.

P.S. – Hey Prince - I’ll be celebrating my 30th Prince show next time you're in town, so hurry back!
