where I can read about how other fans think about albums,songs and everything
that concerns Prince.It always seemed I had 2`defend`myself 4 being a Prince fan.
Sure,in the 80`s a lot off my friends liked the hits they heard in clubs or on the radio
but besides the PR and D&P albums I could never talk about his music.
And a lot off people just didn´t understand him:he sure can make a lot off noise!,He looks so strange,is He Gay??,and so on...
Twice I took someone with an open mind 2 a Prince concert,the first was a Queen and Elvis fan
but I gave him some Prince songs and he was blown away by both the concert and the songs.
He expected 2 see a kind off greatest hits playback like Wacko Jacko once did.
The second liked New wave,Iggy Pop,Grunge,some pop and the same happened with him.
Anyway,I think it´s great that U boys and girls give your opinions even if it concerns an
older album or past events,I´ve never heard an opinion about them!!!

Errm, yeah - I have 2 friends who like Prince. But we don't talk about him, it's just nice to be able to put on Prince and someone says "Oh I love this song" instead of "this is shit, prince is gay, I have no tolerance of musical genius and therefore am an ignorant cock"

i have several... and through this site, i have met and made some amazing freinds as well.
i am lucky enough to have 2 freinds who live in my city who are fans, that i get to do everything prince related with

carriempls!! and endorphin74!!! weve been doing this preince shit for years

i know how u feel. the only other person i know who relly digs prince is my younger brother but i don't think he had much of a choice in the matter. i know a couple people who don't dislike him but they really aren't up to date on his new shit. so luckily i found the org and can keep informed and enjoy others opinions on prince. thanks guys

my friends at work. I have been there for couple of years now and we listen his songs alot.

they are not hardcore and I don't think they got anything he released except PR, but they respect his talent.

And I know a lady around the neighborhood whose house is all painted in purple including the curtains, and once I've seen her furniture which are purple also. i dont know her or i don't know if she is a fan but who else other than a P fan can can be a Purple maniac!

But then here in Belgium I don't know anyone at all who likes Prince's music, (except for the old songs like Purple Rain and stuff ..) - makes me wonder, what's it like in the US? I mean how popular in Prince in general in the US?

I am only 14, and so is my friend Alley and it's so funny because it seems we're the only ones our age that loves Prince and understands him sort of. My brother thinks he's weird and that he's gay! He does however, love "Call My Name" and "Little Red Corvette" but not any more of Prince's music.

I have no friends who like prince and i too have to put up with the usual anti-prince crap

One girl i know was of the opinion Prince only had 4 albums and only the 1 PR was any good and after the gold experience "flopped" prince was made bankrupt

I don't have any "live" friends who like Prince, and I too am THRILLED to have found the org. I have never thought about, talked about, and listened to Prince so much as I have since I've been here. It's been nirvana for me. I love it!!!!

The good news, though:

My wife, a non-fan, went with me to the Chicago show and LOVED it. "Now I know why you love him so much," she said on the way home. That's a start. At least there's some appreciation now..some respect.

A friend of mine told me to make him a compilation of Prince stuff. I burned him six cds and asked him to "just find 10 songs that you like." Turns out, he likes quite a bit more.

Until my world changes, though, I've got you guys and I'm grateful!

Other than the lovely people of the Prince internet, I have a couple friends who are pretty into Prince but none who are quite as nutty about him as I am. I actually ran into a friend of mine at one of the Paisley Park aftershows last month, which was a bit of a surprise.

FRIENDS??? YOU CAN'T BE MY FRIEND UNLESS U LIKE PRINCE! MY FAMILY ARE PRINCE FANS TOO. GOING TO THE CONCERT TOMORROW WITH MY COUSIN AND OUR AUNT. MY CHILD,5, BASICALLY ONLY KNOWS PRINCE MUSIC. CONCERT ON THE 20th IS WITH A FRIEND.

Interesting topic! At first I only had one friend who was a fan, then when Prince married Mayte, she got pissed and turned on him. (I STILL can't figure out why!) We're still friends, but not "Prince friends." Now I have a whole new set of "Prince friends" through LovesexyDC, which I joined in its very early days. We're a fairly mature group and I'm sure that most members, like me, have friends who are not fans as well. The best thing, though, is that those people who used to ask me (snickering like I was the crazy one!), "Are you still into Prince? He hasn't done anything in years, has he?" are now buying "Musicology" and telling me, "Yo boy is BAD!" Go figure! As happy as I am for him, I'm feeling pretty good about it all myself!

This is the kind of shit that pisses me off. If he was gay, who gives a fuck. I always say to them "I would love Prince even if he played polka music simply because he shoves that gay image down your throat and hopes you don't like it. Now bend over so he can shove it up your ass!"

No. I used to have a couple. One was my best friend from school, we stayed in touch for years because of our love for Ps music and we used to go to all the concerts together. We eventually drifted apart(i don't really know why it just happened)and that was that. Then a couple of years ago he contacted me through friends reunited. We spoke a few times through email...chatted about P(were we still fans etc)then...i told him i was gay and i've not heard from him since!! perhaps this is what he thought i'd do to him!!!
