Baby Knows

So I finally got around to ordering "Rave In2 the Joy Fantastic" from NPGMC, since I only had the Arista version and I had heard "Beautiful Strange" and loved the song, thereby justifying the entire purchase.

Things have been posted here about which versions of songs are better, but for the most part, either I like the original versions ("Rave...") better still or the newer versions didn't help me like the songs much more than I already didn't ("Hot Wit U," though the "Nasty Girl" add-in helps...)

Anyway, to my point...

It is AMAZING how SUBTLE remixing can make a song so different! One of the biggest disappointments to me about the Arista release was the song "Baby Knows," just because I totally loved the song and was pissed that it listed Sheryl Crow as a "co-lead vocal," but the song was mixed so that you could barely hear her! She was easily just backup vocal, and you had to listen carefully to hear her underneath Prince at all.

Imagine my surprise, then, when I hear the "Baby Knows" on the remix release to find that Sheryl's mic is WAY up...same level as Prince's, and she is TRULY, FINALLY, the co-lead vocal! I LOVE it! It's like Prince read my mind and fixed this tiny problem that bugged me the first time around.

Any other thoughts about this song or any of the other subtle changes in the different versions on Rave In2/Un2?

i think most of the Rave In2 versions are better than the Rave Un2 ones. (except Man O' War. but the Undisputed remix blows the original way... turns it into something actually listenable).

I only have the original version, so I really can't comment on the remix, but I love Maceos version of the song on DIAL Maceo, but still haven't figured out a way to copy it to my "Prince covers" CD.

It's not a track, but plays in the gap BETWEEN the last 2 tracks on the album. Never seen that before !!!

Any help to making a copy of this ??
I'll have another glass of you.

should still show up when you transfer the track over, or rip an mp3 of it. may have to edit out the other song that's on the same track, but it should show up as part of one of the last 2 tracks.
