0+> Album made me the addicted fan that I am today. Anyone else?

0+> is the album that made me addicted to Prince's music.
End to End greatness. I skip nothing when I listen to this underrated album. I always liked Purple Rain and 1999, but after listening to 0+> over and over I slowly started purchasing every CD. Now the rest is a crazy addiction to his music.

i love that album. The Continental is the jam. I was really suprised it didn't do that well on the charts. I guees it was just the choice for singles. This is one of my favorite tours too, I loved the way he did the album during the first set and then came back and did hid hits.

7 is the song that cemented me as a fan. i'd kind of liked the singles from D&P and had that album, but when i heard 7 for the first time, i was a goner.

Same here. nod I thought it was a much better effort than Diamond & Pearls. But I kinda discovered the album late (fall 1996 to be exact). But it was still very cool even then, and it's still cool today. People rip on Tony M. and the Game Boys and stuff, but they had their place too, for better or for worse.

mushy Yeah, 1996 was the year I fell in love with Prince all over again.

My first album too!! smile I mean ever!! I got the tape of it from my brother-in-law when he upgraded everything to CDs.

Then I requested a hits mix on tape, then I signed out a few from the library, the rest was history.

Interestingly, my brother-in-law got hooked with Batman, proof that people don't just like his "bad" albums because they're disillusioned or blindly follow him. The "bad" albums actually hooked many people! smile

I have another friend who only started liking Prince when I was playing NPS in my car once smile smile smile

?????

Im not saying that every song is a classic, but as a cohesive unit it is a great album.
I would call Blue Light, 2 tha 9's, the morning papers, sweet baby, my name is prince, sexy MF, and Damn U. great. Even the fillers of the album are worthy of a listen. Skip nothing ...that makes it a great album

I started 2 listen 2 Prince's music becuz o' that album, after I saw the "7" vĂdeo. Actually, I just bought the album cuz it was in a low price promotion. I didn't like that much the first times I've heard it...but then i started 2 grow and grow...after this come and gold really caught me...just then I started 2 listen 2 the old material...now I don't hear 0(+> that much, my favorite funes r from 80-89 and 93-95...but DAMN U, imo, it's one of his greatest ballads!!!!

I have to admit that I wasn't immediately hooked with the prince album.

The songs are great, but they don't quite flow properly as an album IMHO. They worked fine
in that order when the album had loads of segues inbetween every other track which kinda
told a story (and seperated the songs from each other). But when the segues were removed
it meant that some of the tracks just didn't sound right sitting right next to each other. eg,
My Name Is Prince followed by Sexy MF. Both are great tracks, but because My Name Is Prince
is so 'in your face' it makes Sexy MF sound 'weak' (lacking in muscle, not crap).

I just think that once the segues had been dispensed with, he should have re-ordered some
of the tracks. (oh, and I'm glad he did get rid of all those segues, they were OK as an idea,
but that guy that did the narration had a really 'bored' voice... not voice over material)

prince is actually one of Prince's less impressive albums for me. There's just so many songs on there that don't connect with me. A lot of solid throwaways.

Great-amazing songs on prince

7
Damn U
Blue Light
Sweet Baby
The Morning Papers

Good-great songs on prince

And God Created Woman
My Name is Prince
The Continental
3 Chains 'o' Gold (that's right, I love this song)

Average-bad songs on prince

Sexy M.F.
eye Wanna Melt With U
The Max
Arrogance
The Flow
The Sacrifice of Victor

Overall, I can't give it more than a 3/5. It's too overblown and pretentious. Some classics there, so it's solid, but it's still a disappointing album.
