Sounds like or influenced by...Prince

Yesterday someone told me he thought he heard the new Prince but and he wasn´t the
only one.Later on he discovered it wasn´t Prince but The Freestylers with`Push Up`.
In these 2 decades of being a huge Prince-fan I realised that HE still has a great
influence on people and it wan`t the first time some song on the radio sounds like Prince,
Mostly the one-hit wonders just imitate his`commercial`sound and his way of singing(!!)
some are truly influenced and have a talend and career of their own.I thought it would be
nice-after all these years-to find out who U think are just `hits´or `artists`???

Artists Hits
----- -----
Maxwell (Fortunate) Freestylers (Push Up)
D`Angelo RFTW (Oh Sheila)
Bilal (When will U call) Jesse Johnson (She)
Outkast Bastian (You got my love)
Musiq Georgio (Sex appael)

I know I`ve forgooten at least a few,may U know some..

I am not sure about sounds like Prince, but Lenny Kravitz certainly want to be him. I am so dayum tired of watching Target commercials. I swear he looks a lot like prince but prince is WAAAAAY more fine!!!

Although Ready For The World had more than one hit ("Digital Display," and "Let Me Love You Down" along with "Oh Sheila"), they were definitely "just hits" considering they didn't develop their own musical identity for any sort of longevity.

Beck is in the Artist category, he'll incorporate anything that strikes his fancy, including Prince.

I didn't much care for Bilal's debut album, and the only song I remember that sounded like something Prince would do is the song "Sometimes"...but then, that's just the only song I vividly remember from the entire disc anyway.

lol I hear you 'Nova. I do like "Sometimes", "When Will You Call" & "Soul Sista" but the rest is some bool. And I'm full of shit b/c I had The Best Man soundtrack & took it back quick though Soul Sista was on it, I just didn't pay that song any attention until I got the album. But it's not an impressive debut, just a few nice cuts on it. Bilal's attitude irritates me mad
heart prince I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it prince heart
