I recently heard this unreleased Prince track called "Heaven". Hot damn, that song is funky!!!!!
Can I get some more info about it? My guess is that it was recorded around '85 or '86. NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

Recorded at Sunset Sound on May 26, 1985 and was never included on any configuration of ‘Parade’

It's such great track!
This could easily be placed as the title track on a new Prince bootleg album (a la CB, but with more of a theme - i.e heaven/love/religion/god/spiritual - but unlike TRC it doesn't preach!) Prince: Heaven On Earth 1. heaven 2. dance electric 3. love thy will b done 4. a place in heaven 5. moonbeam levels 6. others here with us 7. god is alive 8. the voice inside 9. dance with the devil 10. still would stand all time (original) 11. the grand progression [This message was edited Wed Jul 28 4:07:07 2004 by gottagottagotta]

Does anyone else think that this song should have been the closing song that plays at the end of UTCM when the credits are rolling? I think it would have worked so much better than "Mountains" and since it's about "heaven",it would have been more appropriate, since Christopher Tracy got killed at the end.Plus,I would have loved having this song on 'Parade'.

no. mountains is a far superior song. Agreed. "Heaven" would have been far too bittersweet. "Mountains" is the perfect positive finale.

I've always like that song.
The issue is that it's a song about Vaginas, but Prince was never brave enough to just say it. If you listen very closely you can close your eyes and see vaginas floating up to heaven, banging on the pearly gates, begging to enter and sit at the right hand side of Peter.

"Heaven" is my favorite unreleased song. It should have followed "Purple Rain". Andy is a four letter word.

Man, I would love to hear it. I love "Dance Electric", but I never heard P's version of it.
