A very long time from seeing him over North at the Juneteenth Festival back in the days.

Since 1982

9 september 1988

First exposed to him in 1979, when my mom and I saw him on Midnight Special and he freaked the bejeezus out of us.

First fascinated by him when I saw a full page pic of him in the Rolling Stone 1982 Yearbook (I didn't make the connection between him and the freaky dude from 1979).

First time it was "all over" in early 1984 when I saw a movie commercial for Purple Rain on TV and heard the end of "Let's Go Crazy" for the first time.

So I'll say 20 years with some build-up.

Since 1982. They say 2000 zero zero party over opps out of time. So tonite I'm gonna party like it's 1999! I was not a fan until 1982. But I first heard of Prince in 1979. When I was 8. He was on an album cover my friend's mother had. It was the "Prince" album with the feathered hair and ridin the pegasus on the back.

All of 26 years, since I heard "Soft and Wet"...I can't remember if I heard the single first, or if my older sister bought the album before I heard it. Either way, first single was my flashpoint during the days of punk, new wave, and disco.

I've been a fan since the beginning. Now my story begins in 19-dickety-two. We had to say ‘dickety’ cause the Kaiser had stolen our word ‘twenty’. I chased that rascal to get it back, but gave up after dickety-six miles. Anyway, long story short... is a phrase whose origins are complicated and rambling...

Since I was 9 and heard 1999 on the radio, way back in 1983. I saw Purple Rain when i was 11 in the movie theater( I convinced my dad to just drop me off and buy my ticket for me ). I got caught stealing the Sign O' the Times cassette from Caldor department store when I was 13. I'm pretty sure my first child was conceived after a Prince concert in 93. So pretty much Prince has been part of my life for as long as I can remember.

Since 1981 & 1/2
