Say What You Will But I Still Love Musicology!!!! Well I have noticed lately that there are a few threads dissing a very, very, good Pop album so I am here to set the record straight.
I love this album. To me it has great ballads and pop/r&b songs that make it one of the most fun albums of the summer. I think many people aren't realizing just how big this album is. I think it is remarkable when you consider that he is not getting alot of radio or video support yet is still getting alot of attention in the mainstream and selling out arena's. Now I am a Prince fan so I am not concerned with how many units he sells. That does not mean however that I am not enjoying the success of this album. It has been a long time coming. Emancipation was great but did not have this kind of love being thrown at it. Rave was imo not very good. There are songs on it I like but not like Musicology (and let's remember Musicology is doing what Rave was suppossed too!) TRC was never meant to be a pop CD though is on a another level musically. I just think people should celebrate a great CD that is fun and easy to follow (you know there is nothing wrong enjoying a straight forward r&B/pop album!) So that leaves us right where we all are today. Myself and I guess most of you are still bumping a CD that reaches far beyond the Pop grasp of even Madonna or MJ (I mean say what you will you have never seen them invent such a great way to make their music relevant while remaining true to their mission). So throw ya hands in the air and wave em like you just don't care for your Musicology CD and let the org know how much you love it!!!!! Peace THE CARDINAL HAS SPOKEN!!!

So there you have it.
"Myself and I"???? Musicology has at least two fans and is clearly a world-beater. Lock this thread before this orger persuades us all with their powerfully persuasive persuasions.

Well... I got Musicology and Chocolate Invasion more or less simultaneously and I like Chocolate Invasion. I think it was very nice of Prince to also provide for those of us for whom Musicology is a bore. FREE THE 29 MAY 1993 COME CONFIGURATION!
FREE THE JANUARY 1994 THE GOLD ALBUM CONFIGURATION

I like it. I'll even say I like it a LOT.
I don't LOVE it. I love stuff like Controversy and Lovesexy and Batman and Come. But I like Musicology a lot. Nothing on it makes my hair stand up on end, but ya know what? When I listen to this album, I never wanna hit the skip button, not even once. I think there's some middlin', mediocre, lukewarm stuff on Musicology, and if I had my 'druthers I'd take a big ol' bottle of Chinese Hot Sauce and squirt it all over the masters so the funk would burn a little harder - but I will say that as vanilla as this album can be, at least there's a consistency to it that makes it a pleasant enough listen from beginning to end.

Well, my avatar should say it all. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that
