From what I've read on this website
these seem to be the 2 most praised songs
and I was wondering which song is the true
fan favorite? I know everybody is going to say
that they love both of them but just for shits and giggles
pick 1.
I'll go first. The Beautiful Ones!!!

The beautiful ones. I can't see what is the big deal about Adore, it's a beautiful song with beautiful lyrics but it's not even in my top 20 prince ballads.

I'd go with "Adore."

For me, "The Beautiful Ones" is woven in to the "Purple Rain" tapestry...it has that sound...I don't find myself just listening to it unless I'm listening to all of "Purple Rain."

"Adore," for ME, is more of a universal ballad. I can hear it in between any two songs and am instantly disarmed. I love its gospel flavor. I love watching what it does to the ladies when Prince teases them with the possibility that they'll hear it live. That's POWER! HA HA.

They're both great songs, but I like "Adore" a little better.

This is so hard.
For the last three weeks, I have been listening to purple rain non stop, and th beautiful ones has been so special to me since i heard prince sing it at the staple center. Then i thught back to how i saw him on march 29th and he didn't sing adore, how hurt i was, and how i screamed when he he sang it on june 5th, i think i am gonna have to go Adore.
He's gonna sing it at my wedding, how mch do you think it'll cost?
I don't have time to listen to new music, I've got too much old Prince to discover. Classic example : I was at club Nokia at the midnight show and didn't know "In a large room with no lights" . . . my bad Prince

Adore has always been for me the quintessential Prince song. I am surprised by the mixed results of this thread.

Why surprised? It's pretty obvious that everyone here has different tastes. Besides it's plainly obvious that The Beautiful Ones is the better song. wink

I am surprised mainly because as I was growing up listening to Prince music I never once compared Adore to The Beautiful Ones. It may because I was a few years older(17 when Adore was released) and connected more with the sentiment of the song. Honestly, the people with whom I associated all thought the same about Adore.

Also, urban radio still plays Adore regularly, and I grew up listening to urban radio.

Beautiful Ones hands down!!!

I was nine years old when Purple Rain came out and Mom would not even let me have the soundtrack (cause of Darling Nikki... Pooh!), let alone let me see the movie or the concert. But I loved Prince anyway, and borrowed my friends tape. I can remember hiding it from my mother, listening to it over and over on my little walkman in the dark. Even as a child the raw emotion and passion of that song touched me in a way that few songs have. I would cry every time I heard it. When I finally saw the movie years later, his performance of it just sealed the deal for me. I have always dreamed of seeing the Purple Rain tour. If I had three wishes, that would be one of them. You guys who saw it are so lucky. I thought I would never see him perform that song live. When they played the opening notes in Ft Lauderdale, it was like a dream come true. I almost fainted!!! LMAO!!

"I may not know what I'm going to make, WOO! Lookit here, I said I may not know what I neeeed. (Guitar is screaming/pleading her also) One thing, one thing's for certain, I KNOW WHAT I WANT!"
headbang

"Do u want him, or do u want me? Cause I want U.....

falloff eek OMG, Is that not one of the most breathtaking film and musical moments ever??

Can't wait till Atlanta.... biggrin

By a LOOOOONG way- Adore!!!!!

The part when he screams " You don't know what you mean to me" is the best moment in a Prince song ever.

The Beautiful Ones is nice, but for me anyroad not in the same league as Adore

And well I'm sorry but thats the end of that debate
