Slaughterhouse question

Anyone know anything about The Slaughterhouse? I've put off downloading it from npg music club. I can't find a single review for the CD. What does it sound like? Any other Prince CDs it could be compared to? I was also wondering if it's been edited. When you play the sample, there's definitely a "curse" word that's been blanked out. If you pay your $7.77, do you get the "clean" or "nasty" version?

Thanks in advance, if any of u have any answers!

Luv & Peace,
Alex

Well sloops, here's the thing, Slaughterhouse is basically a compilation of downloadable tracks from year 1 or 2 of the NPGMC. The "CD" itself doesn't exist... not yet anyways.

confused You could have given genuine answers to the questions in less time than you quibbled over a technicality. I'm sure plenty of people have downloaded it and put it onto a disc, making it a CD.

To make it easier for you to grasp the questions asked, let me rephrase my original post (so something in the water WILL compute):

Anyone know anything about The Slaughterhouse? I can't find a single review for the downloadable compilation. What does it sound like? Any Prince CDs, records, downloadable compilations or cassettes the 10 assembled songs could be compared to? I was also wondering if any of the 10 songs have been edited (IE - "dirty" words removed).

Thanks in advance!

Ok...answers you seek....

Don't put off getting this cuz it's really good (or the Chocolate Invasion for that matter). I would say most of it is along the lines of Hip hop...or as CLose as Prince will get to it. It is comprised of various trax from the club from the first 2 years....so it includes a few songs that don't fit the hip hop...golden Parachute and Hypno Paradise are two of those. I don't think there are any P CD's to compare it to.

The "curse" word you hear is just part of the song...an effect It's actually NOT a curse word and he is saying something about bringing it back...and he does a backward verse to show this effect. My favorites on this are In SIlicon, S&M Groove, Radical Man 2045, Peace, the Daisy Chain. Oh and Why should I do that when I can do this is off the hook. I don't think there are dirty words on it..though the Daisy Chain is quite dirty due to it's subject matter.

It is hard to find reviews here on the org...and that's about the only place you'll find it. Though do do and seek out more reviews if you can..they are here...try and search The Chocolate invasion as they are normally discussed together. The response you got is probably due to this topic being discussed to death a while back. It was released on 4/20...so there should be a lot of Slaughterhouse topics round that time.

S&M groove has a swear word edited. Prince won't release music with cussing in it with his current religious beliefs.
RIP sad

Never sounded like a cuss word to me...it just sounds like a specail effect. I thought he just wouldn't use a cuss word. I'll have to take another listen..what word is it supposed to be?

I went ahead and downloaded it. There is definitely a cuss word or two "edited" (which drives me nuts -- why even include them, if you're gonna cut them out?). I don't know WHAT to think of the songs, yet. It's not as easy to get into as The Chocolate Invasion (which I loved, right off the proverbial bat). I think it will grow on me. I have ended up liking a lot of Prince's "rap" stuff (P Control is one of my favorites).

An okay album to begin with. Will probably get better with time.

I think I said that already.

D'oh! eek

I like SH better than CI. I added "Controversy-Live" and "Magnificent" to my Slaughterhouse CD. I like CI, but it had to grow on me. Recently, I've been listening to "Judas Smile" a lot; my fave on that album is "The Dance"

Many more faves on SH, though:

"S&M Groove" [there does in fact seem to be a couple of cuss words edited out]

"Silicon"
"Golden Parachute"
"Props N' Pounds"
"2045 Radical Man"

All my favorites...

BTW, SH is NOT rap or hip-hop; there are only two or three songs that have rapping.
