Usher - new album sounds familiar....the new Prince wannabe?

My wife and daughter like the new Usher album and you should listen to Track 14 - "Do it to me" I think.

The music is just a ripp-off - an 80's Prince tune. won't say which one but go listen. in fact alot of the album sounds Princely. Makes me wonder if music would be what it is if Prince did not pioneer the drum machine sound in the early 80's.

Usher has been around for years and years, and has never gave me any indication that he is anything more than a typical R&B crooner with a few mid-tempo "dance" tracks.

Derivitive is definately the word.

He's more of a Michael Jackson wannabe than he is a Prince wannabe. His music and dance reflects Michael Jackson. He even said so that he was obsessed with MJ. He's his idol.....If U saw the video for "Yeah" U would C that.
This is my friends User Name so I'm not gonna use it when my posts run out anymore... brick

The similarities between this track and "The Beautiful Ones" have been noted in the Non-Music section for months now. But, you're right...he pretty much ripped Prince off on this one (and no, not paid homage to, but ripped off; LOL).

Brian McKnight,Babyface,Gerald Lavert, and Maxwell have all ripped P off over the last 5years. But it's all good!
