might've been part of that the art of musicology special from a while back...the acoustic part of the show was filmed and shown, along with the rest of the stuff.

The art of musicology special aired on mtv a while back, either just before Musicology was releasesed or right after (I can't quite remember). It was a half-hour long, and Prince performed "Musicology" and "Dear Mr. Man" with the NPG, then sat back with a great looking purple acoustic guitar and and played some of his classics. I think he did "Cream", "I could never take the place of your man" and "sometimes it snows in April". There was also this funny part when he told the audience about the first song he learned on the guitar ("Proud Mary") and started to sing the first verse in his super deep sexy voice. Totally cool performance! Strange, but I'm more comfortable around you naked.

i'm not too sure that it was on mtv, but on VH1...then again, does it really matter? i also don't remember it being a purple acoustic guitar, but just his straight up black one -- i watched it again last nite, and am pretty sure about that.
yep, he did 'cream,' 'i could never take the place...', 'sweet thing' (but the ladies sang, not him), 'proud mary,' and 'sometimes it snows...' then it had a superstupid 2 minute interview at the end. and it was pretty goddamned good. go find it, and watch it -- then watch it again.

y. it was on VH1, MTV, and BET all at the same time, the MTV and VH1 versions were the same, the BET was slightly different, mainly the interview and less music. It was also on VH1 classic and MTV2 at the same time, although they were all the same version, just the BET was different

I saw the show a while back on MTV, but have not seen it sense. Does anyone know if it will be on again sometime soon? I hope so, I want to see it again and again. PEOPLE CALL ME RUDE, I WISH WE WERE ALL NUDE, I WISH THERE WAS NO BLACK AND WHITE, I WISH THERE WERE NO RULES!
