Performance on Leno of 'Everlasting Now' Hi
I was just watching Prince's performance of 'everlasting now' on the jay leno show in 2002. Could anyone please tell me which song Prince segues into or breaks into during the performance besides the "everlasting now'? thanks.

You made me watch it again, as I haven't for quite some time.
To answer the question... none. It's all in the studioversion! I guess you are referring to the Santanesque bridge which carries the guitar solo. At some point in the ONA-tour, they replaced the 'Santana-medley' with 'The everlasting now', after some time switching the two. Also, the Leno version has a percussion solo by Sheila E. which is 'extra', and features a lot of extra horn-stamps --- probably due to the fact that he didn't mean them to just stand around and look funky.

Thanks a ton for the reply. I was talking about the exact same part you have written in your followup reply. the santanaesque reply and bridge and shiela e. part. i thought it was part of some song composed by prince or some other artist that he incorporated into the song.

There 's a part that sounds very much like "George of the Jungle" if that's what you're referring to? When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.

yeah .. that version indeed is very tight and really funks up towards the ending. Yes.. i was referring to the bridge and something similar to the 'george of the jungle' part. I just thought that that would be an actual prince song or a song of another composer. It really is catchy that tune is. And towards the end, he ends with another part of that bridge .. which song is that ? Where shiela e. comes banging on the drums next to him playing the guitar ?

I was lucky enough to be in the audience for that and it was amazing. Everyone was jumping up and down and shouting. An amazing performance. The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. I had to suffer through the Other Side . Y'all who were there know what I'm talking about. [This message was edited Sat Jul 10 16:08:28 2004 by BobGeorge999]
