All those songs...ugh. There have been better releases since this one. The original owner probably got a hold of one of the Work volumes(the selection here is probably on vol 4 somewhere). While harder to find...The Work vols are more current, have "the best versions" of the songs listed and have most of what you'd want regarding other recordings. Heck some of those songs have been released already...and they are not that good IMO. Unless you like them...then get it....but I think you'll be seriously disappointed in quality and song selection.

this was a must have back in the day when you had to go to record conventions to get bootlegs... or private record stores...

Let me give it to straight from a big time since '78 fan, Yellow is a hot CD. You need to cop that. The Work is off the chain and if you see Volumes one or two yo'd be a fool not to get it, but that said Yellow is a good CD to have.

I Wonder -hotness. soulful bluesy kinda tune
Player - not so good quality or in song, but interesting sort of hip hop vibe
The Voice -not Prince..is it Mavis maybe
Don't Say U Love Me -good quality-decent pop tune
Open Book -another hot one. touching ballad.
Sex -released as B-side of Scandalous-
Spirit -cool pop tune, it grows on u
Martika's Kitchen -the gifts he bestowed upon Martika
Love...Thy Will Be Done -straight hotness, no one does it better
Schoolyard-quality ok, but song about Prince losing his virginity
Uh Huh! -Song he wrote for Ray Charles/Pepsi, i think he got a Mil for it, thus the famous commercial
Get Blue -this is one of my fav ballads..sexy hot-decent quality
Old Friends 4 Sale '91 -released on the Vault CD, but because of the quality of the sound, which isn't grea,it lends a sort of Bogart in a dark alley vibe.
Carmen On Top -guess who..WACK!!!!!
Power From Above-couldn't get enough..she's back again!!!! jeeze
Five Women-Prince singing it on crack it sounds or doing his best Joe Cocker, who he wrote this one for. It is much better on the Vault cd.

I'm telling you, I wonder,Open Book,Love..thy will...,and Get blue was on heavy rotation for a min and I still use them when I gots a sweet,sweet one coming over!!

I just don't happent o be a fan of this era of songs...if they are from an era..all of the Carmen and Martika stuff I just did not care for. Too blusey and ballady for me. The descriptions above this post are very accurate.

If you can, listen to it first. Also take note of the store, you may have an outlet for such things in the future.

Yellow is a pretty old and outdated CD boot. As said above, newer releases have better quality versions of the songs.

This was a classic in its time, the time in question being 1993. Unlikely many bootlegs of a decade ago it has aged very well and still serves as a fine introduction to the unreleased music of the early '90s. For a more comprehensive selection of outtakes and demos from that time period check out The work volume 3 and The work volume 4.

No offense but damn! Having read some comments on this site for a couple of years now, i've always been perplexed by one question: if there's truth in all of the people who have claimed on this site to have been fans since back in the day in '78, then why did For You only sell 150,000 copies???
