A little new momentum could bump it up to at least #6 on Urban AC. And it's now up to 56 spins (+45) on CHR/Pop. WOuld it be too much to ask to release a song to all formats and get the video out all at the same time so momentum could cross over. Right now it's climbing on CHR/Pop, dropping on CHR/Rhythmic and Urban, and stalled on Urban AC.

Man, ever since the dispute with Warners, Prince just can't get a hit single to save his life.

Well, the general view among the CHR (top 40) radio audience is that Prince is music their parents listen to. He's often put into the same spot as Luther Vandross... he won't crack the top 40 radio playlists anytime soon. No matter how many albums he sells, he won't find top 40 radio success with "Musicology" or "Call My Name" which are more fitting of adult formats. With enough steam, "Cinnamon Girl" for example, could be a big CHR crossover hit. Just my 2 pennies.

This past Tuesday, it was #6 on KMEL's Top 7 at 7. I was shocked, but in a good way. These are the 7 most requested songs of the day. Call My Name is a great summertime love song. I'm glad it's getting more attention.

yeah , Maz . I'm also surprised at Urban radios luke warm reaction to Call My Name, where its been stuck in the mid 30's for weeks now. I thought for sure this had top 10 Urban written all over it.

And Lionel Richie making the Hot 100 with his "comeback" is disturbing . He's doing it almost solely with huge support from Mainstream Adult Contemporary. As far as Prince going after this market, I dont think I'm ready to hear him sandwhiched between Celion Deion and old Barry Manillow songs .

P seems to be in a mid chart life crisis. Too old "music my parents listen to" for Top 40 . Too much of a rebel still for Adult (pop) stations. He seems to have found a home on Urban AC where CMN looks to be going Top 5 (Musicology went top 10), too bad its one of the smallest formats in radio .

lets hear it for the small markets! Now if we can just get some big cities to play it , it may really take off. Still, seeing it at #90 on Pop airplay is kind of surprising to me. (btw if they ranked the chart by total audiance it would be #141)
