Who owns......... .....Prince's vaulted music...i mean i kno prince owns SOME of it....like the stuff he's done after Warners....but does Warners still own the unreleased stuff he's recorded from 78 up until the time he got out of the contract? Yesterday is dead...tomorrow hasnt arrived yet....i have just ONE day...

i dont know this for a fact but i would think that Prince owns everything that wasn't officially released under Warner Right!! Which may explain why Prince hasn't released stuff from the vault. If this stuff is ever released wouldn't WB be able to lay claim to them. I'm sure the vault groupies around here should know the answer to this? So what's up, can he release the stuff without having to give WB anything or what? | |

WB does not own the vault material. Prince worked for them, and they owned aspects of songs he released through them. (Even then he still owns some or all of the publishing from the WB material- Warner's just owns the masters.) Its like if you work for Doubleday and write for them all day. What you write for them is theirs. But when you go home you can keep writing and that is yours. WB did not get rights to everything Prince did around the clock- only the things he released through them. | |

i don't understand...how can u own ur publishing and not own ur masters? Yesterday is dead...tomorrow hasnt arrived yet....i have just ONE day...
