777-9311 and Sexuality

Ok...first off. I've always loved both of these songs. But....how phat and funky is the guitar solo in 777-9311??? I MEAN....WOW. Great song....and Sexuality? That is actually a funky cut. Funny how you can go back to certain songs and just go crazy over them over and over again. I remember being turned onto Prince's music in Jr. High after hearing Sexuality and Controversy on the radio!

Are you comparing the two songs, or just reminicising over them. I can fondly remember those days when all over the radio was " 777 " and mine and others feeble attempt to crank call the number. Dammit, Iv'e got to get a CD of that album now.

For Sexuality, I love the kooky littte rant towards the end, " Tourists. 89 flowers on their backs... ". Damn good stuff. It's all I'll ever need. confused smile

since you mentioned it, I am going to buy What Time is it? as soon as I can. 777-9311 and The Walk just Stomp as classic funk jams.

I love both jams.

But what I always hated is that you cannot play 777-9311 as a lone stand off, as the first beat is missing (it is mixed out of the previous song).

But that was easily helped with some careful editing on my mini disc player. As soon as I have it hooked to my new computer (might take moooonths, knowing me) I am willing to share. It is only ONE beat, but it makes loads of difference.

Whilst on the subject of B-sides by The Time, there is also "Tricky", for added funkiness and insanity.
