Computer Blue

i looove this song but one thing i always notice is prince never sings "the righteous 1" part thats n the booklet..i kno the part

that goes:

poor lonely computer its time someone programmed u. its time u learned love and lust. they both have 4 letters. but they r certinaly different words. poor lonely computer. poor poor lonely computer. do u really kno what love is?

so like i said y doesn't he sing it on Computer Blue? is that what prince is sayin at the end of darling nikki? is it on the longer version of computer blue? if so where can i get the longer version?
Yesterday is dead...tomorrow hasnt arrived yet....i have just ONE day...
...And i'm gonna be groovy in it!

The lyrics are from the uncut version of Computer Blue which takes about 10 or 11 minutes.

These lyrics are spoken by Wendy Melvoin.

At the end of Darling Nikkí he's saying

Hello
How R U?
I'm fine cuz I know the Lord is Coming
Coming
Coming soon

And you cannot get that version HERE.

Try Kazza.

Or be sweet to a collector.

This was consciously done, the printing of lyrics that are not on the album.

FI with Insatiable, the lyrics were already printed when Prince decided to cut a verse. But again, this version is also available.

There are two extended versions. They include an extra verse before the guitar solo, and in one of them he says, "Somebody please please, tell me what the FUCK is wrong."

Ahh, the good ol days.

I'd miss Wendy, but I'd still love to see this song done live.

The lyrics aren't nasty so maybe he'll add it before the end of the tour.

There are four extended versions.

The first is the rough demo, recorded at the warehouse where the band rehearsed during the filming of Purple Rain and comes complete with the dirtiest elongated feedback at the end. It has a raw power and spontaneity largely absent from subsequent versions, which is why it's my personal favourite. It clocks in at well over 13 minutes.

The second is the Sunset Sound studio version commonly referred to as the "hallway speech" version. This one is most people's favourite and also clocks in at over 13 minutes.

The third version is mostly intrumental and does not feature the above "hallway speech". It's also over 13 minutes in length, possibly the longest studio version there is.

The final version is an edit of the previous Sunset Sound version and considered to be the preliminary version, before it was further shortened for inclusion on the Purple Rain album.

Yes do seek out at least any of the longer versions...they all include the lyrics...but not the hallway segue. He did do "longer" versions of Computer Blue in Concert during the purple rain tour. If you love this song, do yourself a favor and seek out the longer versions.

The funny thing is, when I got this boot in 1987, It was on cassette tape with a bunch of other Purple Rain boots like "Extralovable". Only it was titled "Computer Blue 10n9"

I have no idea what it means.

I still have that old boot.
