Is it worth buying because I'm a big Prince fan. Is it really true what they say about it?
CLASSIC!! You should use the ITUNES Music store for sampling tracks! You get to sample all the tracks on the album for 30 seconds!! You can download itunes for mac or PC from apple.com It really is sweet for sampling tracks, you can search by song title, album or artist PEACE! Music, sweet music, I wish I could caress and...kiss, kiss...

THese kind of posts blow my mind....dude, do the studying before you come around a fan site. With all do respect, come on man....I don't want to be a prick-but ahhh, come on. Nero p.s. This is actually worse then the post where the person asked what D.M.S.R. stood for....

excuse me,but .... we live in a different perspective ..... being a big "Prince fan" and not owning his greatest album do not match together. You're not a fan as: 1. You don't have the Dirty Mind album 2. ..... 3. ..... 4. so what?! .... Just go buy this essential recording!! [This message was edited Sun Jul 4 23:10:12 2004 by ThataintFunky]

Bizarre. You wouldn't have thought three years ago that anybody who wandered to the .org wouldn't have owned every single Prince release out there. Including "Gold Nigga" and the complete "Dreams" 3CD set.

I didn't buy this album until a few months ago, and it quickly became one of my favorite Prince albums. Not a bad track on it, and, in particular, I love:
Dirty Mind Uptown Head Sister isn't my favorite song on there, but even that one at the very least provides me with a good 90 seconds of laughter.

So I'm all alone on this, huh?
I don't like DM at all, except for "when you were mine", which is an ACE popsong, although it was the Lovesexy 1988 live version that totally blew me away. I felt reasonably dissapointed when I bought DM and heard the studio version of wywm. Sorry folks.

You aren't alone LookUp2C, I can take it or leave it. Every now and then I read a thread like this one where everyone is raving about it, so I pop it in hoping to 'get it', but no. For me, 'Prince' is a far more enjoyable album.
*Puts DM into CD player in hope of getting it this time* Back in 30 minutes and 12 seconds... RIP

Is Dirty Mind good. it's only the best thing he's ever done!

Dirty Mind on a scale 1-10 i give a 7. The good is songs like Dirty Mind, Head, Uptown, Sister, & When You Were Mine. The only bad thing is explaining these songs to your teenager (if you have). Who is now into Prince music because of hearing that album. The title tells it all. This is Prince in raw form. I miss that part of him.

One of the best albums of all-time.I have fond memories of the fall of 1980 when this album was released. It was truly groundbreaking and innovative for it's time, and it didn't really sound like anything else on the radio. There was a huge "buzz" surrounding this album, and everybody was talking about it.This is,without a doubt,Prince's first real masterpiece and several of these songs are now regarded as classics ("When You Were Mine","Partyup" and "Head").But every song is amazing..."Do It All Night" and the ballad "Gotta Broken Heart Again" are top-notch songs.
