when i first bought it i was instantly drawn to disc three - i liked the more up-tempo, techno-ish stuff on there, and i think "the love we make" is an excellent song. after a while, i slowly warmed up to disc one, though there are a few songs on there i can hardly stomach. i still can't handle disc two - it's too saccharin for my tastes, and in light of what happened with mayte and the baby, it's kind of depressing to listen to. though i DO like "joint 2 joint" a whole lot. smile

I like Discs 1 and 3 but Disc 2 is phenomenol. P poured his exposed his fellings big-time throughout most of that disc. It contains the most beautiful lyrics and expresses alot of heartfelt love more than any other P music I've ever heard. I suggest you listen to it quick!!!

Wow, a lot of people here are nothing like me. I want as many songs as I can get.

The songs I like are these:

Disc 1: Right Back Here In My Arms (it's alright)
Big White Mansion
Damned If I Do
I Can't Make U Love Me
In this Bed I Scream (the best on this disc)

Disc 2: The whole thing. (Soul Sanctuary and Joint 2 Joint are the standouts)

Disc 3: New World, Human Body, and Sleep Around are cool, as is My Computer.
One of Us is really good.
The Love We Make is the only song on Emancipation I would consider a classic, must
hear.

Hi folks,
I just bought "emancipation" for about $6. (I was warned, but for that price... cool )
Looking at the package at home, I realized it has the worst album-art ever. eek
I've started listening to the first tracks (not so great), and thinking about the 3 cd's I had to crawl through, I thought: 'hey let's ask other Prince fans what they think is worth listening to!'.

So, is there anything really worthwhile on 'emancipation'?

Please let me know, so I can check out the quality stuff , right away. smile

Ta!

in fact emancipation is one of my all-time favorite collection of prince songs. recommend a road trip while listening

You could come up with some good choreography to that song

What is the deal with "Sole Sanctuary"? When he starts singing "your screams are like a prayer" I started wondering if this was more than than a love song.....although lots of his love songs have that kind of stuff.....anyone have any theories about that?
